New berlingo base model £8k
« on: August 04, 2013, 05:11:13 pm »
Just been offered a new bed lingo 1.6 base model for £8k plus
The vat 3 year warranty and a 675kg payload .
I'm tempted as surely you can't go wrong at that price.
Trouble free motoring for 3 years, and 40mpg min
Anyone else got one?

Just bought the peugeot partner 850 payload. It was an ex demo one so I did not have to pay any vat, 6 months old £8k. Getting 45mpg. Chuffed to bits with it.

Citroen are advertising Citroen Berlingo prices from £10,005.

So if you can get a new one for £8k + vat it sounds like a very good price, and well worth having.

I am a landy man and still use a 110 every day but
The novelty of 22mpg has worn off mate.
Thinking of going back to a transit when I realised I could get
A brand new berlingo on the road for £10k. Don't know what to
Do as my first van was a dispatch 2009 1.6 and it was poope
It spent more time being fixed than working!

i looked at a berlingo when i bought my new van, didnt go for one as they were too small, payload isnt enough, gutless engine, no proper bulkhead, and the lwb model isnt actually lwb,

spend a bit more and get something better

Tompoole, ever considered the biodiesel from WVO?

Kebab shops get 30 pence per litre for their used cooking oil from their supplier, they will shake your hand off if you offer them 50 pence.

For me as sole trader i find a payload of 850 is fine and the 92 horsepower copes well with the Cumbrian hills up here ;)

Yes mate have run it on veg oil but ideally you need a preheater
ESP In the winter and to be fair engine oil will need to be changed
Every 3k miles, which is no major issue but def worth thinking about.

And another factor is I like the idea of in a few years getting
Someone to work the round with me supplying everything
Which will be easier if I had a little van. Might just buy another
Transit though I know they will be good.

How long did it take for the novelty of 22MPG to wear off bud?

Just bought the peugeot partner 850 payload. It was an ex demo one so I did not have to pay any vat, 6 months old £8k. Getting 45mpg. Chuffed to bits with it.

Being a demonstrator it was invoiced to the dealer at the demostrator price + VAT by Citroen UK. The dealer is VAT registered so would have claimed the VAT back and would be the first registered owner. This would make it VAT qualifying. They would have to sell it as a VAT qualifying van, ie the price plus VAT.

I'd be sure that the 8k was including VAT which they had worked back for tax purposes.

If you aren't VAT registered then you sell it as a retail price.

If you had been VAT registered you would have asked for a VAT invoice and so you would only have paid £6666.67 for the van after you had claimed VAT back with you next VAT return. If you were a VAT registered business then the chances are they would have probably sold the van at 6995 + VAT which would still have been attractive to the buyer and made a bit more profit.

Citroen give/gave the dealers a very good price on their demonstarators and they required us to keep our demonstrators for a certain length of time before disposing of them. Most of our demonstrators were already earmarked to customers within a few weeks of being registered as demonstartors, some with a small deposit taken and others on a first refusal basis.

Six months this time ! I had one for first five years of business
The dispatch (poo) the transit but had to have another Landy.
But it's well and truly worn off now and while there are many
Many pluses to landrovers ie tough and durable, think its time
To get back into something newer

I got a new belingo at the same deal had it 4 months carry 500 litres great van to drive but when full the van is real low to the ground but pulls the weight  with no problem getting around 40 to gallon around town however
the nearside front makes a noise when reversing, will take it back under warranty,to see what the problem is

Don't worry stu , narrowed search down to an 11/12 plate
Transit or vivaro , prob wait until perrys have had their current
Stock for 3 months then buy a transit of them if they have any
Left. So you'll still be the poshes windy in Aylesbury mate.
