Van Stolen
« on: August 04, 2013, 12:30:10 pm »
Hi chaps, on Thursday at around 1.15 pm I had my van stolen off my drive. I was working in the cul de sac where I live and I thought I'd pop home for a brew and fill the van up for fifteen minutes. I was downstairs and heard a bang(it was the hose snapping off the van), thought somebody had hit a parked car and when I went out I realised my van had been taken. Clearly I shouldn't of left the keys in the van but I live in a very rural location and was only home for a matter of minutes.

I live in redmarley,Gloucestershire near the Forest of Dean. I had a gardiners slx 22,Brodex 500 litre ro system, 100 metre reel and lots of traditional gear so if anyone locally to me gets offered any second hand equipment please approach with caution. There was also £200 in cash, cheques,iPod and laptop with customer database on.

My van is a ford transit connect registration is YP07 OHH and was seen on the police cameras at the over roundabout heading towards the Forest of Dean.

I am offering £100 to anyone who provides information which leads to the return of van.

Many thanks

Ian

yes I'd say you left them on the table at the bottom of the stairs.. Heard of people doing this in petrol station forecourts and insurance won't pay out

I knew someone who left his car running while putting air in his tyres on petrol station forecourt.
Someone nipped in the car and drove away, all caught on cctv.
The owner never received a penny from the insurance company because they said he left keys in ignition with engine running.

It's a bitch and I'm sorry it's gone, hope its found soon.
Whether they pay out though is another matter. You agree to due diligence or to take reasonable care (whatever the phrase they use is) in the T & C's to prevent this.
If they find out the keys were in it the chances are they will not pay, they may even ask for both sets of key's.
If you've only got the one set thats now missing, they will have a field day with you.
Most insurance companies will do everything they can to wriggle out of paying up.
Sorry to brighten your day further.
Can I ask why you left cash in the van?
Tony

It was takings for the last couple of days I was planning on going into the bank after I'd finished for the day to pay in cash and cheques. I know I only have myself to blame for leaving keys in the van you just don't expect people to have the audacity to come onto your property and steal from you like that!
