It what is known as making a mistake if people didn't make mistakes then there would be no
need for insurance.
I do agree with that entirely but that wasn't my point and I didn't mean to sound critical.
Having had a van stolen about 25 odd years ago when I left the keys in the ignition while going to pay for diesel at a petrol station and the coppers said that most similar thefts happened for that very reason, I've never left the keys in any van or car I've owned since for even a few seconds.
On this forum, the same has cropped up from time to time despite the reason being the same. Each time, the van was stolen, where were the keys?
If you don't want your van stolen how ever remote the chance of that happening may be, take the keys with you.
I bet tomorrow there will be some on this forum who will still be leaving the keys in the ignition or in the van and that is the point I was trying to make and probably very badly.
