Would anyone buy army houses? my uncle wants to sell his round as he isn't well and he wants just over 1 clean, thoughts please?

Nearly all my Brit domestic is army houses here in Boxheadland. I find them generally good custies, and mostly good payers. Some units though, move every 3 years, but teeth arms like infantry or tankies stay for upto 12 years in one location. I have a mix of unit in 5 areas here, and a coupe of the areas I have to replace about half the custies every August, which is the main posting time.
 By the way, I doorknock, because they are compact, and that's the best way to keep them compact. Word spreads fast under the wives though, so keep a good standard. If you know what I mean, and assume everyone knows everyone, so never gossip lol.

I would not have a problem doing them, sounds like a bargain, unless you are in a location that is about to shut down then it would not be so good

I've had a few in Andover and they have been a pain to be honest.
None of them had chequebooks or internet banking and their husbands are always away and they claim to not have any cash on them until hubby comes home.
Spent more time chasing the money than I did cleaning the windows, dumped them all in the end.

I know what you mean mate.Sounds a bit silly maybe, but being ex army seems to help regarding payment. Like Stu says, you know when pay goes into the bank.   Over here, online banking is in German, so most are stuffed. I'm 6 weekly, so standing order is another problem. Cheques are non existant here since the 70's, so it's cash, bank transfer done at the counter or PayPal. But they aren't normally bad payers. That's my experience with them.

yes I can imagine, especially the younger ones, just like all walks of life, there will be good and bad

Only agro I've ever had is getting onto camp.
Here-they need to book you in, you need 2 forms if ID and questionnaire filling.
Takes well over half an hour to pass security!
I now say I won't come on camp for less than 5 houses.

I do a big estate of army houses in plumstead and is a realy good earner i do 27 spread over 4 roads, always great payers and realy friendly bunch of people All offer me tea and drinks which is nice too. A shame there isnt more army housing areas near me.
