100 psi 7lpm
« on: July 30, 2013, 05:32:54 pm »
hi i like a good flow rate so am thinking of a pump from these guys i currently use 100psi with 5.2 lpm from sureflow but the www.thewatersite.co.uk does 100 psi that do 7 liters per min and 10 liter per min, would it be worth trying one of these ?

you can get a flowjet from pure freedom with 7.2 lpm but they are double the price of the water company?

One of the local cleaners tried the 10 litre per minute but it was too high a flow. The minibore and jets wouldn't handle it.

Years back we had a 5.2lpm 100psi Shurflo pump with 1/2" hose and 3mm jets. The pump kept cycling because that flow was too high.

Would bigger jets in your brush give you the effect you are after, instead of having to change your pump?

Do you use a controller?
I find that using the Shurflo without is more than enough flow.

Michael Petersen,

Me personally, if I was thinking about it, I would just buy and try regardless.

The thing with this forum it is really good to be able to ask questions if you are unsure, rather than think you know it all.

I myself have asked many questions, but sometimes when you ask questions small minded people still have a go at you

You know what I mean  :-[

Gotta say, at £55 inc vat for the 5.2L it must be worth a punt, wonder how much the pressure switch is?
It's a game of three halves!

£55 is hardly breaking the bank, so I would just buy it,

just my opinion

Would bigger jets in your brush give you the effect you are after, instead of having to change your pump?

Larger jets will give a greater volume of water delivered to the glass as opposed to increasing the Flow.
This video shows the effect  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SORg3AQ8nw

A larger jet will also reduce the system pressure as the restriction created by the Jet is decreased. More water is delivered to the glass slower.
Out of Interest do you have a controller?

hi ian i use fan jets but still like a much higher flow it went down a bit when changing from 8 mil to 6 hose so i though if i use 7l pump it should be better i have just bough one so well see i dont use a controller like my pumps to go straight to battery :-) does this sound about right to you bud i now have a flowjet 60 psi  3 sureflows 100psi and a vyair 100 psi lol i like to have some spares and play around with different equipment to look for that little extra speed

Looks a good price. I'll take a punt on that too.

Hi Michael Have you seen the article in the July WCM magazine http://www.windowcleaningmagazine.co.uk/html/magazines.html page 23. Perry explains the very effect you are describing.
By switching to 6mm you may actually reduce flow. Perry describes it as hose wall friction - "it is the effect of the sides of the tube on the water flow in the tube. The closer the walls are, the greater the effect of the walls on the flow."

The Chen pump will help create higher flow per minute simply because it will push more water. You could also combine the 60PSI pump with a larger bore hose and smaller jets as this will make the water travel faster and give the appearance of higher flow
Out of interest do you have a manual tap on the pole that allows you to adjust water flow between the agitate and rinse cycle?
