Credit card machine destroyed
« on: July 28, 2013, 08:20:32 pm »
My credit card machine was destroyed when my van caught fire a few months back. I called handepay who told me I had to pay nearly 400 quid for a new one which was nice of them. Told them I might as well pay up the contract as I thought it was unfair to pay that ammount and was told it would cost me £1,800 to do that. So I am now paying my £31 per month plus £10 minimum charge for nohing at the moment. Can I buy card machine off ebay or similar and use it with streamline? Annoying thig was, I asked the salesman at the time who sold me the contract what would happen if I lost the machine or had it stolen and he was clueless. `Not sure` he said ` I presume they send you another one`.

Although I don't know the answer it does open a can of worms for others who may have machines that get stolen or lost or broken/destroyed, I wonder if you can take out insurance on them?

Clive,
Surely they have these units insured as you are only hiring it from them?
If they won't replace it just cancel your dd and sod'em

Why not plead your problem and ask if you can buy a used one from them at a discounted rate you could suggest that everyone is watching this outcome!
