Sometimes big isn't that special
« on: July 26, 2013, 02:19:13 pm »
Went to price up a 22 roomed manor house this morning. Georgian panes sash windows and they wanted inside and out cleaned. Gave them a price and as usual their eyes popped  :o

The guy said "don't you want the job?" and I told him - to be honest I'm not bothered really, I'm stacked out with work.
I didn't mention what a potential pain in the arse the job would be.

Just didn't fancy it really. I'd rather bang out the smaller jobs with the plastic frames all day than face hassle.

Hope I don't get it to be honest.

I used to think those properties were the way to go. But they are never regular so it's like a 1st clean every time.
And if you give a price most are shocked cos you did the gamekeepers cottage for a tenner.
I don't seek that work anymore.
Domestics are by far the most pleasant way to earn a living.

I've just turned down a request to quote a massive castle near us. Wafer thin glass, once a year & the reason for the quote is to compete with the current cleaners (who I know are not expensive) who do a great job & the owners are happy with!!! At least he was honest I suppose! ;D

Errrrr..... no thanks, there's much easier & better money to be made thank you. :)

I had one just like that at Itton Court (it'll be on Google) a large mansion with lots of flaky Georgian windows.  Inside and out too, which is fine by me; Wor Lass is happy to spend the time on the insides - she's good that way.

But the building manager wouldn't be pinned down on a firm frequency, so I declined the job.  He was somewhat flabbergasted as if I was turning down something really quite special.

lol i know the type of job mate, i think regular and easy is always the way to go, anything hard and slow is just going to stress you out at the end of the day, i dont like anything out of the ordinary or unexpected
