New Safety Accreditation Scheme

"SAFETY ACCREDITED MEMBER" (SAM)

FWC Executives have developed a bespoke window cleaning contractors Safety Assessment Scheme, the aim of which is to help member businesses find advice on managing their general health and safety risks which will be open to all members who have met  pre-specified health and safety requirements.

Every month thousands of contractors and consultants apply for work with public and private sector organisations. In order to be awarded the relevant contract, the companies and individuals applying must meet health and safety standards and preparing all the necessary information to become a registerred accredited contractor can be an extremely tedious and lengthy process.

The Federation scheme can help businesses find advice to help them comply with general health and safety requirements.

There are currently 100's of facilities management companies, over 140 Local Authorities and many large national companies who require a company to be registered by a Contractors Health and Safety Assessment  Scheme before  they can use their services.

Accredited Members of such a scheme generally benefit by being considered for proposed tenders by these organisations - quite simply - more organisations will work with you.

SAM is a pre-qualification scheme that allows local authorities and other organisations identify that you have the minimum standard required under the scheme.

There are certain standards that everybody will have to achieve; the main crietria being that you have to attend and pass the two IOSH accredited courses; "Cleaning Windows Safely" using waterfed poles & portable ladders and "Risk Assessment" for cleaning windows, gutters and external facades.

« Reply #1 on: November 19, 2013, 09:32:21 am »

Established in 1947, the Federation is an independent, non-profit making organisation supporting the needs of Domestic & Commercial window cleaners in the UK.

FWC are now on twitter and our address is @FWC1947 Please follow us to keep up to date with our latest news and member offers

Our purpose is to support and improve the window cleaning industry and to represent and safeguard the interest of our members with the EU, Government and other professional bodies.  To achieve this we also work alongside other forums and associations such as Asset Skills, British Cleaning Council, IOSH and the HSE Cleaning Industry Health and Safety Liaison Forum (CILF)

Membership of the federation offers new, existing, large or small window cleaning companies numerous benefits including free advice, discounts on essential business applications, membership representation to Councils, Agencies and many more.

We offer effective and high quality training courses aimed specifically at the window cleaning industry and these are available throughout the UK at many, easily accessible venues.

Also available is the FWC Training DVD “Safe use of Portable Ladders and Waterfed Pole Systems” which can be used as part of an induction and training programme.

And now….a new FWC Assessment Scheme for 2013 which is more than just a generic Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme.  This is a window cleaning “Safety Accredited Member” Scheme designed to enhance the image of the industry and help member businesses gain improved credibility and subsequently more contracts.

Plus there is more coming soon with subsidised social media marketing for members
We continue to evaluate the service offerings we provide and value member’s opinions on what services they feel we should supply to them, and what we can do to improve as a federation.

Do you want to know more? - Then Keep an eye on this news page as we keep you regularly updated about what’s going on at the FWC.

In the meantime; take a look at the many benefits available from the FWC and find out how we could best support your business.
