Can u leave to next time!
« on: July 24, 2013, 09:11:44 pm »
How do you all deal with these customers? Im 6 and 12 weekly. Was thinking of giving them 1 chance and on second time tell them to choose 6 or 12 weekly, what do yous do?

Well if i was 6 weekly and 12 weekly and a 12 weekly says leave it this time id question is that customer worth it?? Works out 2 cleans a year if that happens. And at 6 weeks going to 12 would be just like doing a first clean!
I like to stick with 4 and 8, i dont bat an eyelid if a custy says leave it till next time,a lot of people have money worries now and then or a valid reason to not have them done. At 6/12 weekly it would start to bother me.

All depends on whether you can afford to lose the customer.
If you're not bothered, save yourself a potentially awkward conversation and ballache.
If you need the money-suck it up. In the nicest possible way.

Natural progression will dictate that in time - as your work builds up you will drop them - and it won't become a worry. ;D

Drop them immediately and never go back unless very good reason such as

Builders are rebuiding the outside of house / New windows being fitted
Someone has died

think thats about it however if they say next month miss us out as were on holiday then no problem at all

done this from about 12 months in as a window cleaner - not had a leave em this time for well over a year or even 18 months apart from 2 reasons given above however did have a widow tell me to do them as normal as the funeral was in a few days time and wanted them done.

i do 4/8/12 week cleans, if anyone says  ''next time please'' and they are 8 weekly then i tell them that i will call in 4 weeks, as i work in 4 week rotations and that when i am next around. same if they are 12, i wont wait 12 more weeks if i will be in their area in 4 weeks time. they usually dont wont to wait more than another 4 weeks any way, sometimes i have 4 weekly who say miss me todays every other time i see them so i tell them i notice a pattern and save hassle by cleaning every 8 from then.

Im 6 or 12 weekly  Wayne.

Every customer (and we have 550 ish) are allowed a leave it this time every so often. When it starts to become a habit then its time to dump them.

This doesnt really ever happen nowadays mind, which is nice  ;)

Train them.

I tell them at the outset that this is a monthly/two monthly service and that I do not accept on-the-spot cancellations.

Any attempt at a doorstep cancellation is met with a reminder of my terms and a request for an explanation please.

Answers:

Type 1

Don't need doing - dump
Going on holiday next week - dump
The dog goes mad - dump
I'm not feeling well - dump

Type 2

I'm ever so sorry I forgot to ring you, the window frames are being painted tomorrow/builders arriving on Tuesday etc - strike one if they've not done this before and she looks like Cameron Diaz or hands out drinks and biccies - strike two if she's a munter who rarely gives you time of day  ;D

Dump if there is no apology from a "demanding" customer.

Type 3

Death in household - a free pass this time.

It's a game of three halves!

Got this from a new customer yesterday. Yesterday was the second clean. I think I will leave it this time she said on the intercom.

No use arguing with an intercom and wasn't going to let her get me worked up as my blood pressure is too high anyway.

Ok, I said politely smiling to myself. She thinks I will be back next month, but guess what?  She'd be wrong, but it will take her a while to find that out.

At least she doesn't owe me any money.

The same 9 times out of ten.

To be honest, I do not notice a major diffrence in dirt  build up between the two.

In the last 6 months we have started charging double for one offs and first cleans which im yet to have a customer turn down... which is also nice  ;D

Sorry to sound thick but whats the point in going over to a longer frequency meaning you need more customers to fulfill a round? I thought a main reason people went 6 weekly was to charge more??.
Im 4 weekly and dont bother with the 6/12 as i dont want to have such a big customer base to deal with. im just curious why you would want the extra hassle of finding and extra 2 weeks worth of customers and not charge any more for having to deal with such a large workload to earn exactly the same every month. At least if you charged 20% more you would be on an extra £100-200 a week.

But maybe this is what she wants. She has had a one-off clean for the price of a 'normal' job. Do you charge more for first-cleans or or one-offs.?

I charge extra for first cleans if it's a walk up. If I knock doors to canvass, I don't charge extra for first cleans though. One offs are double. All our work is 6 weekly, except commercial/shops etc.
No still don't understand, I must be thick

I've been thinking of going 6 & 12 weekly purely to charge more.
I wouldn't do it for the same price as a 4 weekly.
Decided against it though, most custies round here are just getting into 4 weekly. ;D

dont see the point in 12 weekly cleans, unless they are big jobs but small 12 quid houses? i had someone ringing me up asking for 12 weekly the other day told them no its 4 or 8, they accepted 8 weekly

i wish from day 1 i offered 6 weekly only, would have made things much easier,
