Well there you go. Your min charges are more than mine down south which is £10. i cant work out why people are justifying £4-6 a house being a good business structure and that its so different you neck of the woods to mine.

Mick-I'm on the midlands but from Whitstable.
Not having a go just wondering-why worry what prices are nowhere near your manor?
If you were round the corner and were just checking you were on par I'd get it but 300 miles away...
Some (a minority) on here will cuss you out for being too low/too high, tight/crap with money, a doley/building a corporate empire.
Fret not sir. You're making lovely dollar from what I can see-enjoy your fruits and let the haters hate.

You are also forgetting that although Dazmond (and I) are 'up north' we are still a good 160 odd miles further south than Sunderland / Newcastle. It's a different world up there I tell thee! :)

Northerners seem to be more honest IMO.
Lots of the guys I know from down south are full of it.

Wasn't digging Mick-if I ever have a 'cant be arsed day' or suchlike I always think of the money I make and compare that with my peers. More than some, less than others.
Then think of the average salary of people like a nurse, secondary school teacher or someone who has done 5 years of uni in 1
£100k of debt earning less than a lot of other shiners.
Always seems to look rosey.  :)

Min charge for 3 bed semi is a tenner.although I have lots of very compact older work that earns me 150-180 quid per 6 hours on the glass with prices between 7 -12 quid.I have 8 days worth with hardly any van moves.lots of add ons in summer which earns me more money.plus I usually start with a good paying commercial or large domestic account before starting this work so its more like 200-250quid a day.then I have lots of much better paying larger domestics which amounts to 200-250 a day sometimes just for 7 or 8 domestic jobs and maybe the odd commercial!.

It's took me years to build up to this though.I'm creeping up the older work every 2 years and well priced work up every 4 or 5 years.

Im just on the north side of the border in N Ireland and the going rate for a 3 bed semi is 6-7 quid, i charge about £10 except in council estate's, The odd one does mention about being a bit dear but i just tell them ill do good job of frames and doors too, a lot of my houses are double the local rate and at the end of the day we are not talking about big amounts of money.

Nothin wrong with my business structure and I charge £4-6 for some houses. Good business practice is knowing your market.

It depend where in the north here in South Yorkshire to travel to 1 3 bed semi it would have to be £10 but we have lots of compact work that we do for £5 still clean 5/6 per hour.

i dont know any window cleaners charging £3-50 for a 3 bed semi.i know some who charge £4-50.im sure some are on benefits.

i never thought it possible to charge £10 for a 3 bed semi until a few years ago but i have quite a few in little cul de sacs near other work.

the thing is mick some window cleaners work in deprived areas, council estates and lots would NOT pay £10 to get their windows cleaned but would for £5 or £6.

take scotland for instance.quite a few scottish window cleaners cant seem to get good prices for 3 bed semi work.

i work in mainly affluent areas and have lots of bigger domestics at good prices as well as the very compact cheaper 3 bed semi estate work.

im very well established though.tried and trusted and have a very good reputation as a good window cleaner.

there are still quite a few old boys on ladders who  charge £10 for 4 bedders where my price would be £15 monthly/£20 2 monthly.they dont clean the awkward windows or touch the frames so say they switch to me on a 2 monthly their paying the same but getting awkward windows, frames/sills/doors washed every time albeit on a longer frequency.

ive picked up a fair bit of work over the last few years and im twice or 3 times more expensive than their last window cleaner they were unhappy with BUT i provide a much more professional service so they are happy! ;D ;D

and this is how i continue with slowly creeping up cheaper older work and charging more for fresh new work.

im finding you dont need to have very compact work to hit a good day rate.large domestics at good prices within a 10 mile area.driving to each stand alone job can be just as good if not better than the cheaper very compact estate work.

only thing is cash flow can be slower with large domestics.also i find the more money they have the more likely it is they go on holidays a lot more/have electronic gates etc.

the compact cheaper estate work is fantastic for cashflow, plenty of tips at xmas, lower fuel costs and lots of nice add ons in spring and summer.

i now will not even take on a 3 bed semi if its not right near other work.bigger domestics i will travel up to my 10 miles radius of work if its big enough.same for commercial.

most of my work is within 5 miles of each other though.

regards

Top post daz! I couldnt agree more apart from even the compact work should be charged as you would standalone.
