The 8mm Thermobore Plus is not suitable for use with the Aquastop connector. For Thermobore Plus you would need the following item:
http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/Quick-Release-Straight-Through-Coupling-with-8mm-Hose-Barb-QRM_COUPLING_8MM.html
Or
http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/Quick-Release-Shut-Off-Coupling-with-8mm-Hose-Barb-QRM_SO_COUPLING_8MM.html

Another Hozelock. The purefreedom ones don't leak and also the old school (smaller) hozelock one's don't leak, but you can only get them on ebay now.

Hi Ben

On the Aquastop page it does say that it is suitable for 6mm ID Microbore or our slimline Minibore 8mm hose.

Our new Thermobore Plus is larger so is not suited. I will take this on board though and add a 'not suitable for' line on the product page.
