prefilters and ro advice pls
« on: July 21, 2013, 09:39:29 pm »
need to get a new membrane i think its jumping up and down.
its performing erratically at best.
one day i get 100 tds after ro and then after a couple hour flush i can get it down to 20/15 after ro   ( tap in is 240)
today flushed it down in 4 hrs from 112 to about 60.  not good.
prefilters were changed about 3 months ago. and i use 500ltrs per day minimum of 6 days.
guessing a prefilter change wont sort the massive ro tds out now.

so im presuming membrane is on way out or am i wrong?    its 2.5 years old id guess.

also i may change over to the gardiner fibredyne filter system. anyone using this filter????

also my water pressure is about 50psi so i think i need this membrane .

http://gapswater.co.uk/acatalog/HF5-4040-Ultra-Low-Pressure-Membrane-2911.html

i also use the twin di method after ro to save resin

any help or advice greatly appreciated.

Minimum of 6 days?
So you often use 500 litres on a Sunday?!

HF5 membrane works fine for us - our water pressure is between 40 and 50psi. The system is unpumped.

We have 20" prefilters and have a long life carbon block filter in at the moment. It was purchased from Osmotics last Novembre. I have left the sediment filter in as well as our water is rather dirty and it doesn't take long for the sediment filter to block up.

I have recently purchased the Gardiner fibredene filter as a replacement and will fit it shortly, but will also retain the use of the sediment prefilter.

I guess after 2.5 years you can't be doing too bad with your filter changes. We had our 4040 a year now and it is still producing water as it did when it was first installed - 125 in 2 out.
