Varistream problem
« on: July 18, 2013, 01:57:15 pm »
So i bought a second hand pump and varistream, problem is varistream dosent controle water flow. When connected to battery it turns pump on but flow rate stays the same. Wired up red to red and black to black first but then noticed black from varistream had a label with "live" on it so swapped over and still no differance. Any ideas or is it just broke?

Thanks gents

If you connected the wires wrong on the varistream controller then you have burnt it out and it wont work now! I have done that mistake twice, now i use pump and a flow valve and works a treat with minimal problems that can occur.

The Williamson Varistream has two sets of red and Black cables both the red are Positive and Black Negative

It is likely that reversing the polarity has damaged the pump drive stage meaning you can not adjust the pump speed and water flow rate. It may be repairable you will need to contact Williamsons or consider replacing it.

If water isn't a problem, bin the controller and just work full flow.  100 meters of microbore slows it down.

On another reel I have 60 meters of microbore - it gives a more powerful blast - and we both prefer working with this one.

Fast flow = fast work.

Have been using full flow last couple of days and just seems far to much water. Will probly use a flow valve as mick said.

Thanks gents
