first day today with extreme25
« on: July 17, 2013, 08:36:46 am »
ive been using a 22 SLX for the work thats due this week.im cleaning lots of very compact estate work.lots have awkward windows above extensions/conservatories etc.also ive got a few commercial offices to clean which i used to clean with a 25 SLX at full stretch.

first thing i noticed was i thought they had forgot to put the pole into the box its thats light!! ;D ;D ;D

the pole is now ready to go.aqua-daptor MK3 XL fitted.45 degree carbon gooseneck and the new extreme brush.

i think i need to be a bit more careful when shutting open upper windows as it doesnt feel as robust as an SLX. ;D ;D ;D

ill let you know how i go on for those that are interested. :)

Hi Dazmond

You will need to be more careful when opening or closing windows with an Xtreme - it can be done, but only using certain methods. If you following the steps below it should work well:

The way to shut sideways opening windows with an Xtreme pole is as follows:
1. Stand further back from the window so that you are pushing the pole into the window along its length – thereby reducing the lateral pressure
2. It may help to extend the pole up by another section to allow you to stand back a bit.
3. Rotate the pole by 180° in your hand so that you can catch the top clamp on the pole on the bottom edge of the window. This reduces the lateral strain again and eliminates the levering effect of the gooseneck.

To shut the top half of a Sash window with an Xtreme pole:
1. Stand closer to the window so that you are pushing the pole up into the window putting all the force into trying to compress the pole – thereby reducing the lateral pressure
2. It may help to retract the pole up by another section to allow you to stand that bit closer.
3. Rotate the pole by 180° in your hand so that you can catch the top clamp on the pole on the bottom edge of the window. This reduces the lateral strain again and eliminates the levering effect of the gooseneck.

well first day using it on a blazing hot sunny day.ITS WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

very little strain cleaning awkward windows.noticibly less strain all around on all work.for those that are poling all day every day on there own id say get one!! ;D ;D ;D

time will tell though as its defo not as robust as an SLX.I was very careful closing upper windows.any that were a bit stiff i either missed out or carefully cleaned while open.

i cant see it being much use on a windy day though so ill use the slx 22 on windy days.

all in all im very happy with my purchase.it will defo become my main pole for lots of work!the lightness and rigidity is amazing!!top marks to alex for designing the lightest poles in the world! ;D ;D ;D

Extreme every time. I have 30 foot slx, 20 ft slx and 25 foot extreme. The extreme is far better, more rigid and lighter. Hoeever it is much more delicate. You must take more care with it.

IMO mick its worth the extra IF the pole lasts say 2 years.id be happy to buy a new extreme every 2 years as they are so light and rigid!

i defo noticed a lot less strain on all work even though the slx is a great pole.nothing beats the extreme for ease of use.

however if your heavy handed and have staff i would stick to the clx/slx range.the extreme is only for the sole trader who is working all day poling IMO.

best wishes

I have one too and my previous main pole was a slx25. It is a lot lighter and less strain across the shoulders/back.
One downer is the inside diameter of the section 1 is too narrow to take the other goosenecks {standard swivel ones from Gardiners} that I already have so it looks like I will have to buy some new ones and go down the quicklock route.
Great pole though.
