We have had some good results too, we targeted selected business types and had a project running for about 5 weeks over one day each week, we have gained more than it has cost, and thats even if they don't repeat, which of course we are hopeful they will - we paid £100 for a days calling, which is approx 80 calls, of course, that doesn't mean 80 decision makers that are spoken too, hence the run over 5 weeks has worked well, as those he could not speak to week one, we tried again etc, we also varied what day the calling out was done. We got a complete break down of all calls made and outcomes etc, and  a report of how they felt the day had gone etc.
Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience
