Text or not
« on: July 12, 2013, 09:42:35 pm »
I started my round texting and ringing the night b4 clean, I now regret it as it takes a lot of time and they have the option to cancel b4 you start, trouble is how do I reverse the process so I don't bother with the texting b4 hand, think lots will cancel, anyone done this?

Just stop bud.
Text the ones you need to, to unlock gates etc.
if they query it say that you are trying to streamline your business as you were working too much in the evening and your family is more important.
Done exactly that myself in the last few months.
You may lose a few but you can always offer to continue texting the really persistent customers.

said this from the start... never ever do this!!!

like you have said its very easy for them to reply and say oh leave it this time etc...

plus its annoying and then you are held down the next day to clean it.. if u dont turn up there left there gates unlocked for no reason. if something crops up the next day you cant take a morning off and sort it out because u have to go clean these houses uv txt.

obviously there are some u have to think i txt about 3 a month because if gates but these are very large houses which make it worth while.
Dave.

when most window cleaners start out they text customers, thinking it will streamline themselves and make them more organized.     You soon figure out that customers p you about and cancel or postpone and it messes up your day.

I did the same for a few months and then one week just stopped.  If the customer asked I just said I am not doing it anymore.

I now call or text about 5 a week.

I text all custy (well, the one's with mobiles of course) the evening before. I very rarley get custy's skipping cleans. If they try it i phone then and explain my term's and conditions policy!  ;D

However. I agree if you can get away without texting ot phoning then do! Because it's another job/hassle you can do without in the long run! Ive recently stoped phoning people the evening before!

I must finish by saying though that the ONLY two reasons i have'nt stopped texting is because it reminds them to leave the gates unlocked for access and it also reminds them to leave me the payment in asecure arranged place!

So my faer is if i stopped texting i would have payment's outstanding all over the place and little to no cash flow as most custys are out at work when i call. Except for the OAP's, unemployed or housewives.

You can text some landlines too.
Just FYI.
Only one if my customers doesn't get the text to landline. We can't work out why...
