bobbly bits??
« on: July 11, 2013, 10:39:08 pm »
Hi all

Is there an easy and quick way of removing the black bobbly bits from carpets thats
usually caused by socks and foot shuffle?
And no suggestions that I should use my Gillette  ;)

If its bobbly bits then those electric shavers designed for removing these from clothes do a good job. If they are ingrained into the pile then its a different story. Other than using a brass brush on your hands and knees theres not much you can do.

Try a small hand black pad. It works a treat

Hi John, you've recommended the black pad before, but I can't work out exactly what it is, what is the pad made of, or who sell them? I'm using a pet slicker brush, which is okay for small areas.

Think he means these: http://www.restormate.co.uk/epages/15094.sf/en_GB/?ObjectID=15320607

Must say I'd never thought of using these for that purpose before, will have to give it a go.

You sure do! Hands and knees job I'm afraid though, but its better than leaving the bobbles behind after cleaning as I think it finishes off the job.

Is that not just like a heavy duty scoth pad? if it is i have a few of these at home, but would never have thought to use them on the carpet... Ingenious! & this will remove the infused/ingrained/intertwined black fibres from a light coloured carpet? I must give that a try next time i have that scenario...
