Hi,

Just wondering if anyone with a Steempro 2000 Powerplus could do me a favour.  Next time your machine is switched on can you tell me if the round hole underneath the drain valve has hot air coming out of it or its drawing air in.

Really ridiculous as this may seem I am getting conflicting advice from suppliers, servicing agents and even Prochem themselves.  One person has given advice, changed their mind and then changed it back again.  As an internal plastic part has melted I'm rather concerned its running too hot.

The set up of the manifold suggests its for drawing cold air in but mine pushes hot out and has done since new.

hi neil ive got a steampro 2000 porty and mine tends to leak a little water from this outlet which suggests to me that it is more of a vent hole than an air intake hole .

This is the air intake which feeds cooling air to the vac motors.  There should be a hose leading from this intake to a plastic cowling which fits over the top of the vac motors.  This helps to keep the vac motors cool when in use.  The exhaust for the vac motors is situated to the left-hand side (looking from the back) and is a chamber lined with foam rubber to baffle the noise. 

If you have air exiting from the hole, as you say, then I think there is an issue somewhere.  Have a look inside and make sure the plastic cowling is fitted firmly over the top of the vac motors.

I'm assured by Prochem that its for hot air out - although I've had conflicting advice from them. 

The cowling sits firmly over the two motors with a hose to the hole I've described.  My own thought process was that if air is supposed to come out the cowling would be fastened down and it would be more of the heat resistant tubing.  For air coming in the cowling would 'suck' itself down and type of hose wouldn't be an issue.

As the vacuum motors are A/C they will only turn in one direction and the blades therefore will only push air one way.  Presumably I need to turn the blades over to get them to suck and that's not really what I want to be tinkering with...

Back to the suppliers again I think.

They are wrong. It is definately cool air in. The fans at the top of the motor are designed to distribute air over the coils of the motor.to stop them overheating. If your's are blowing air out then they are sucking air from the innards of the machine which is warm and will not be having the cooling effect nescessary.

Am now ignoring advice from people who I frankly expected to know better.

Thanks John for confirming my thoughts.  Have now tinkered and its running cooler, sounding healthier and I'm a happier chap for it
