Can't be bothered with that, falling out an upstairs window will take time to heal, I'm sure Ill see some signs if he comes back to work.

personally i would sack him right away.

he could take pain killers and come in.  if it was obvious he was in bad pain you could send him home.

it's BS.  if he really wanted the job he would be in trying to work thru it

Good to know he is not lying , You should have a chat with him about what you expect of him in certain  circumstances and that been open and honest and communicating properly .

You can't take an employer to an unfair dismissal tribunal if you have only worked somewhere for 2 weeks.

I get your point though. Other people cannot make this decision for you; they have never met this guy let alone know whether he is fit for the old heave ho.

People on here saying sack him. If an employer sacked someone because someone on the Internet told them to they really shouldn't be employing in the first case. In fact if thats the case breathing shouldn't really be privelige they're entitled too. :-)

Sack him mate, he's using you for the days he wants to work. Cherry picking. I have a lad who suffers with mondayitis!!!!, but according to the medical expert I get my advise off, mondayitis is very contagious, therefore a full week off to recover is required every time, and he does it coz he thinks he can get away with it, coz we so busy. But I would rather cut me nose off than give into him. His wages this week = £0.00 after tax.

Full week off last week and came in yesterday to find out his job is in the job Center, don't hold no hopes for anyone from jobby tho.

Whats made you employ someone again?

I am going down the franchise route but was hoping to have a big chunk of the new work upfront rather than a mad scramble to pick up a couple of hundred customers in 3 months. The employee also gives me the extra capacity to keep picking up customers at a high rate all year round. With the franchisee I find they want work in spurts. When they have settled in after about 6 months they want about 60 more, then another 50 then 50 more at the year mark. I am up to my tits all the time so need help to take on a good number all year round.

With regard tho the guy on the sick I'm going to give him a chance. I know what he did was stupid but I do believe him with regard to what happened. He has a 2 mile walk to the tram to get in then I have him leafletting 2 days a week too. I can see how if he has hurt his legs he may not be up to that.
