i notice hes poppin pills , ah yes a medical angle is often used as an excuse  ,the good ol  I.B.S. malady excuse  works like a charm as no boss like challenging a foul -bowel  lingering lazy boy  .

its all  just a reason to lay in bed . as a rule theyre usually texting like a madman while apparently sick in bed

Poor cherub isnt well enough today either. Apparantly the tablets his gran brought round yesterday havent helped and hes going to get better ones today. He also knows its 'taking the p a bit'.

I think it's more than taking the p a bit.  I honestly can't believe he still has a job with you.  Reading from the first post I thought he deserved a chance but now for gods sake it's clear he is trouble.  Dismiss him before it gets worse as he is becoming a drain  - you are on here bothering about him when the focus should be on you and your business.

Cheers, Tom

Just out of interest; when were you last off 'ill'?

Personally The last time I was too ill to work was February 2011. I was in hospital getting an operation on my 'window cleaners knee'.

I took one day off in 2009 due to bad flu and i felt a bit wrotten so i took friday off and paid my lad who worked for me for the day.

apart from that ive not had  any other time off due to being ill since i started window cleaning 10 years ago

Just let him go. He wasn't bothered, just wanted to know when and where to get his money.

It's never nice no matter if it's the right decision or not. At least he took it on the chin I suppose.

It's not something I enjoyed. I've been made redundant the past and it wasn't fun and landed me in the crap. it's my first employee and I made mistakes but I will learn. I'm a very fair person. He worked monday and Tuesday so he will be paid for those days. I didn't want to sack him until I was sure he was a rum'un.

Have another lad lined up. Sharing him with a lad from this forum who can give him 3 days and I will give him 2. Hes already trained up and has been good for Tom so far.
