own worst enemy
« on: July 06, 2013, 08:29:58 am »
Been told not needed any more at a custie i've done for 6 years.

6 months ago she had an extension on the kitchen which meant i needed to get on flat roof to now clean bedrooms windows also conservatory roof was now really impossible to clean as next door had extension too.

So my customers conservatory was sandwiched between two extension and even standing on either extension, connie roof was still difficult to clean.

My customer started to ask for gutter cleaning (scooping out) but due to all the mentioned couldn't do unless had gutter vac.

Suggested 4 months ago that she might be better off with someone else.

She asked me not to leave and do what i could.

;D got text yesterday to say she has someone else. ;D

Never put price up in 5 years was £15 for 3 bed semi with connie.
Cleaned conservatory roof 3 years ago very well, apart from a few (lichen? is it that wouldn't come off).

Connie roof 15 panels and was giving it a quick wash over for an extra £5 every month and she asked (that was silly of me wasn't it?)

Due to a recent accident on a ladder i said i couldn't get up on flat roof to do connie roof but might be able to still reach bedroom windows and i did and told her so.

Text said thanks for all you've done but have another window cleaner starting next month that will do bedroom windows and conservatory roof every month.

Just asking would you guys have handled this better than me.

So i can learn from my mistakes.

Oh when this lady was home i use to clean inside conservatory £10 it was big and took half an hour.
She did ask me to do inside connie ROOF which is 15 panels or there abouts and the white plastic roof struts inside as well i said £70 but she never took me up on that.

She asked me the to do roof glass only and i said £45 but was pleased when she never had done.
(£120 would be better price).

If she has got another windy then fair enough if he's good then i imagine all the jobs i've mentioned would be more expensive.

This lady has kicked her husband out 6 months ago and is living with the builder who done the kitchen extension ::)roll

Was wondering if he's doing the windows next month :D

thanks guys.

I don't think you have done anything wrong Lee.
You paved the way by telling her earlier on that she might be better off finding someone else.
Sounds as if the job could of been under priced anyway.
You have made a decision not to use a ladder to get on to the flat roof and that is the right decision for you.
Easy enough to find another customer or two to replace, im sure.
You are just refining your round.

lee NEVER clean inside of conny roofs or inside windows(unless its a big posh well priced job!).they are a pain.as for a fiver for cleaning a conny roof.its very cheap even if you clean it every time you do the windows!

i lost a £35 job because i wouldnt clean the inside of conny roof and inside windows.i just hate cleaning insides!she was really fussy as well.im really not bothered!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

i clean every other house down this posh cul de sac.all are very well priced.

sounds like you should be happy mate.stick with customers who dont give you any grief.(which is the vast majority on my round!) ;D ;D ;D ;D
price higher/work harder!

Thanks everyone.

I think the main mistakes were being a bit too cheap.

Daz on the insides yep inside roofs nightmare.

Inside windows aggro too for the fact people seem to think it should cost the same to do inside windows or less ::)roll

Enjoy the weather guys 8)
thanks lee

Maybe Im wrong but I get the feeling that if you had put the price up she would
have let you go anyway.
Some people out there expect you to jump through hoops and then think they are
doing you a favour by paying a couple of quid.
Well rid.
