Been accused of breaking a flag stone
« on: July 05, 2013, 05:48:03 pm »
Got an email late yesterday evening saying ive broken her flag stone? lol  ???

from just walking  on it i don't no how i could  ::)roll i poped back today the lady was out and i could not see any broken ones apart from an edge missing of one which had been there a while .. anyway the email goes something like this  ;D

--

Following the cleaning of my windows yesterday I have two issues of concern that I must raise with you.

Firstly, as you will have noticed, I have had my driveway re-laid and cleaned, in fact just finished last week.  One of the paving slabs in the back patio was damaged yesterday.  As you were the only person to have entered the property I want to ask you for your views on what happened.  I do understand accidents can happen, but this needs to be discussed due to the level of damage and the cost it will take to replace and relay the flag stone.

Secondly, I was disappointed to come home and find my new door mat swimming in a puddle of water outside the front door.  Whilst I appreciate of course that you are using water to clean the front door and frame, if would have been courteous to move the new mat and not just to leave it in a puddle.  A minor thing I know, and more a matter of courtesy than cost.

I look forward to receiving your views.

---

Just edging to cancel in my eyes?

Dave.

Fancy having a driveway laid that won't take the weight of a window cleaner.  What did they lay it with; slate tiles?

Or does Dave need to lose a lot of weight?

What has her driveway got to do with her back patio?  ???

I would politely reply and finish with something like, "as you are unhappy, perhaps it is best that you finf another window cleaner". You will be well rid I reckon.

Dump time, but handle carefully to protect yourself.

I know you didn't crack the slab at the rear, as how could you drive your van over it?

Obviously had a hairline in it that caved in under a drop of water.

Dump this barsteward asap.

dear customer, sorry to hear of your dismay, I am sorry about the wet doormat and in future will pull back the mat before cleaning and leave it a safe distance away.

In respect to your flagstone I have no idea how it broke or why, but if it had been relayed and cleaned properly it would withstand the weight of an adult walking on it, and I can assure that is all I did, walk on to your property clean and leave, and can not be held responsible for wear and tear on your property, in fact as the owner of your household you have a care and duty to ensure safe entry for all contractors and if someone had fell due to badly laid flag stones crumbling they would be entitled to compensation.

Not that I would ever consider this as my reputation comes before such actions.

again I am sorry about the doormat, and I hope to keep your custom.

or something like that

Good plan.  Send her a small claims court summons for a fall you had due to her badly-laid patio.

We need to rid the window cleaning world of scumbags like this.

You should go and see her, there's no other answer. Soaking her mat is really inexcusable, cracking a flag is probably impossible. If you don't go and address the issues with her you'll look like a cowboy.

I am addressing the issues with her try reading the post before replying, she hasnt even replied to my email from last night yet? so she cant be that bothered. Ive already passed by and knocked but she was out.

Secondly!  ... Her mat wasnt soaking at all because i know how much water i used on her door shes laying it on slightly, plus what happens when it rains  ??? surely it gets wet then too??

[here we go] I have read it. You asked, i've answered. I said..."YOU SHOULD GO AND SEE HER". I did read it before replying. But i'll tell you what. You're right, forget i spoke. Just dump her, she's trouble. And you're a crap window cleaner, who gets complaints and can't deal with them and has to ask on a forum what to do. Hows that ? [here we go off/]

Yeah am a crap window cleaner  ;D   two complaints in 10 years, ok if you say so.

I didn't ask how to do deal with the complaint at all!! i put the post up as more of funny post of someone apparently breaking a flag stone by walking on it.. is a bizarre statement that's all.

think your a little cheesed off from another thread were i proved you wrong on diffrent size membranes  ;D that a 21 inch membrane reduces your TDS  from a 40 inch one  ;D

Yeah you got me there i have to admit. I never realised 21 inch membrances needed less pressure and do infact produce a lower TDS than a 40 inch membrane. You're good, i'll give you that. You're lucky, you know that. I still don't know it, i'm one of them dopey guys where it takes a while to sink in.
