Solo Leaflet Drops
« on: February 28, 2006, 09:21:10 am »
I donot believe in putting leaflets in Free Newspapers as they get swampedby other leaflets.

So we do Solo drops.

But everyday when you look through the door there are more and more leaflets on the floor

So I am going to arrange to deliver other leaflets besides my own

Or do you think we should stick to Solo drops?.

Stick to solo Ian, and as it has been mentioned before early week is best then you keep away from free newspapaer days which clog up the passages. If i recieve a load of fliers together through the door it annoys me and i bin them,
however one or two i will at least read them.

A few years ago I used to approach other businesses in the area that I was leafleting. I would print a large A3 sheet in black and red (spot colour I think they call it) and sell advertising space quite cheaply.

Took me a day to sell the adverts, but the money paid for all the printing and distribution, and of course my advert was well prominent!

The response was actually better than normal leaflets... I think because there was more to read!

Andrew,

Have we read the same book?

In a Marketing book I got from the states that is one  of the ways the carpet  who wrote it promotes his company.

In addition it provides a little bussiness for his wife.

Hi Ian

No, the idea just came to me after a few beers..........

Is this a case of "great minds think alike" or "fools seldom differ"  ;D ;D

a bit off the subject but.......... near where I was working the other day I stopped to fill up and there nice and neatly stacked where hundreds of flyers obviuosly not going where they were intended to go....... I dont do flyers as you know but if I did I am sure I would go solo......Best, Dave.

Perhaps they thought solo delivery meant leaving them all in one place.  ;D

Several years ago now..........

60,000 leaflets printed, and taken to the St Helens "Star" for distribution with the free paper.

The same 60,000 leaflets turned up 3 days later at Haydock Waste Paper.

They had the cheek to suggest that maybe the printer had done too many and was disposing of the excess (I have known the printer now for more than 20 years!)

If you are paying anyone to deliver leaflets, ALWAYS, ALWAYS BACK-CHECK. Go to the streets in question, knock on a few doors, leave them a leaflet before the distribution and check afterwards that the leaflet came as promised. Ideally, get existing customers to do this for you.

2 distributions in Southport.......... first distribution by "Visiter" free midweek newspaper....... everybody said "yes, leaflet came"...... result: loads of work for both myself and my wife's business which was advertised on the back of my leaflet.

Second distribution by a different newspaper (shall remain nameless as still in business)..... most people said "leaflet, what leaflet"....... result: b****r all enquiries.

No point printing leaflets to be put in the nearest bin.

Best people to do the job reliably are Royal Mail.
