Neil I see you use this headline on your website

100% 'No risk' guarantee...!

perhaps you should add

unless it's dralon ;) ;)

how can you have such a proffesional website and ask such a basic question.

but to answer it Dralons easy to wet clean just don't go too high with the temp or you might damage the pile.

Sorry Mike

Just wanted some more advise, Not cleaned any Dralon upholstery before and since being on the courses with NCCA and IICRC just wanted a reminder thats all.

Did not expect that comment though. Thats why I offer the guarantee, I will always try to get information if I am unsure. If I am unsure I will ask but am concerned with comments like yours that this is the right forum to ask questions.

I am sure a man of your experience still needs to ask questions sometimes or are you just the knowledge that knows everything?

Cheers Geoff for your constuctive comments though.

Neil

Hi Neil,

Nice website - good luck with your new venture.

As long as it IS draylon, you should get good results if you pre-spray, agitate with an upholstery brush, then extract. You'll know what chemicals to use from your training. Make sure you leave the pile uniform.

You could also wet a patch in an inconspicous area and then dry to check that it's not a dodgy one.

Neil,

Dralon is an acrylic and is easy to clean with just about anything.

However do be careful of Dralon look alikes particularly Vicose velour.Wet a small area , Dralon will not really wet out whereas Viscose will soak up the water and become stiff.

Cheers

If it`s like Geoff said be careful when agitating as the pile can come away from
the backing on areas that take the ware. Happened to me once, Started to freak  :o
until the customer returned and said " Its OK we`re getting a new one in a couple
of months time, it`s just to freshen it up" Phew, more careful now.

Dralon is a trade name for acrylic fibre made by Bayer.
If its made by Bayer its Dralon, if its made by someone else its acrylic.
Just spiltting hairs, both easy to clean, but always set the pile.

bit supprised by the question too neil, you ve not cleaned a dralon!! ???  i can see mikes point, its ironic your on FT so you've deadicated your buisness to helping consumers understand the carpet and upholstery cleaning industry, surly you should know these things :o

anyway as you've discovered now, best material to clean, always come up real good! ;D

i much prefer to clean dralon or any acrylic pile than cotton :)

yeah i agree karl, we should'nt be afraid to ask anything though fear of critisium
i myself have and asked some pretty basic stuff. But come on, a dralon! seems his marketing exceeds his ability.

I am not worried about asking questons even if it is something that everyone thinks is stupid or something that I should know. I Dont clean a lot of Upholstery as I dont like doing it

All I wanted was some confirmation on what I already new.

Dont worry about my ability to clean things as I can hold my own. FT is not just about Knowledge of cleaning its also about customer service, so if I need to ask I will even if Craig and Mike think I am stupid.

Always learning and always will be.

When did I say you where stupid?

I'm sorry if you didnt like my first answer, but I stand by my comments and i'm surprised that someone who has done both the NCCA and IICRC  courses needs to ask this question.

didnt dralon appear in your internationally approved training

I was wondering if you mentioned to the client before cleaning her suite that you weren't too sure how to correctly clean it and would need to ask ( I bet that would have filled here with confidence ;) ;) )

"can i phone a friend", lol!

no dont think your stupid, course not neil, (your more quilified than me)  i think your question should have been clearer, you want to know best technic/method, for best results, not 'how to clean pursay'  ;D

Hi Mike

I have cleaned her carpets before and she was very happy with the job i did then and was happy with the job I did today, I told her I have not cleaned much Upholstery and am not as experienced in this field but because my carpet cleaning service impressed her so much she wanted me to do it.

I can asure you that I dont go into any job without knowing as much as possible and be satisfied that I am able to do the job or I would not do it. Just because i have been on the courses does not mean I remember everything that I was told even if it the most basic of things.

Prehaps I wont be so quick to ask a trivial question in future, your point is taken about the website but it is a sales tool to get people calling me.
