« on: July 02, 2013, 04:44:05 pm »
Got a few cleans WFP where its terraced and have to go down little access and around the back. Problem is, I have to trail hose over public foot path  :-\

I work on my own and WFP is only solution for back....so what the answer for the risk of someone tripping over hose over public footpath?

Trolly? Insurance? put out warning cones and hope no one trips??

Set up a cordon around the area.

I'm looking at getting a pavement sign done with hazard info on the bottom like a hazard cone then advert for my company on the to half services offered prices contact ask operator for info etc this should help compact my work even more  ;)

As the sign will be used as a hazard cone i don't think the council would stop me from putting it out while im working in the street as its a safety measure and part of my risk assessment.

You would have to prove the warden was suitably trained to direct if there was a mishap though

mmm never thought of that. better just get the traffic police to block the whole street of & get armed response to guard the hose.

James I am with you on this one I am sick of all these over the top replies. If your hose is flat on the ground that is safe enough. I do this all the time, and for many a year. There is just to much H& S driving this country mad and over insuring for circumstances that will never happen and insurances that will never payout.

Not much chance of anyone not seeing a bright yellow or orange hose , The only incident i ever had was with a trolley and that was stupid school kids .

Who pushed a kid into the trolley and it tipped over 1 incident in over 5 yrs and have never used cones . Mike

More chance of Joe public tripping over the cones than your
hose.
Put your reel in the access when unwinding the hose as this is when your most
likely to trip someone.
When you have reached the cleaning area go back and lift the reel across the footpath
making sure you keep the hose flat.

What  ??? ??? ??? ???  , You must be fit walking back and forth from your van all day long every time you clean a house . Reel out the back of van or truck as is normal and get cracked on and get some windows cleaned  ;D ;D . Mike
