@ Mick Kent...

Mick i'm interested... You seem to get alot of monthly work as opposed to bi monthly work. So do you offer only monthly at the door when canvassing and only give them bi monthly on request? I'm only getting bi monthly laterly due to the fact i offer both frequncy's

Thanks

George

i get them to choose from a tick list rarely get 8 weekly i get mostly if cleaner does a good job they will be happy to stay as a customer however the way i talk them round i always talk 4 weekly terms so they assume thats the way to do it so who am i to argue.
4 weekly work is best for me.

Hmmm, very interesting technique for mick! As of about this time last year i took tosh's advice (amongst a few others also) to try and get the custyd to go 8 weekly so that, A) Customer retention is better. And, B) I can add 25% increase on the price for not too mush more effort to clean.

But after reading you post's i may have to rethink my sales pitch and start talking in 4 weekly terms and only if they refuse to become a 4 weekly custy offer the 8 weekly option!?

I'll have to give this some more thought over the next few days though!

Cheers mate

its all how you sell it to the customers george! 8 weekly means you need double the work and risk telling them a higher price than they have heard before for there windows, i know in the long run its cheaper for them but all the customer sees is £15 instead of £10. Thats my view on the charging more for 8 weekly etc. i believe if you price right for 4 weekly work then your onto a winner! anyway a £15 8 weekly job only works out £7 4 weekly! So if anything your best off charging £10 4 weekly and need minimal customers for a full business of customers. Also round my way 4 weekly seems to be the norm.

Just got off the phone to my mum! She has been going out with him cleaning and has been loving it.. What made me laugh was when she said she is polishing the letter boxes. Nowonder there retention is so high they are being verey thorough with there work and being a husband and wife team people seem respect them.

Yeah thats's the big problem mick isn't it... You need double the amount of custys to fill the books. So just to clarify, Do you only give them 8 weekly cleans if they specificity ask if you provide 8 weekly frequency's?

You need near double the amount of customers if 8weekly against 4 weekly as can only charge upto 50 percent more.
Like i said id charge £10 4 weekly where joe bloggs would charge £15. Over a year id get £120 for that customer and joe would get £90. Only downside is that joe cleans them 6 times a year but the flip is joe need a lot more regular customers and also needs to spend more time on the cleans as will get more dirty frames and glass against me who is doing easy regular maintanence cleans.
I except 8 weekly if thats what they want but i wouldnt go out my way to build a whole 8 weekly round.
If you had 400 4 weekly customers at £10 it will be 4k a month
You would need 600 8 weekly customers to earn the same 4k a month
At 8 weekly you do 100 less cleans each 4 weeks but have to be more thorough where they will have double the dirt and grime on top of needing to find 200 extra customers.
Overall 4 or 8 balance out well i just prefere the eas of 4 weekly repeat work.

thanks for that mike. Ive leaned a lot from you in a short amount of time! To be honest i have been trying to persuade custys to go 8 weekly when i could have got them on 4 weekly if i wanted, im sure. I especially suggest 8 weekly if they dont A) live on a main road. B) Live near a dusty field. or C) live near big tree's. I got those ideas from someone off here!

Hi Mick,
good to hear it is going so well for you. I have a couple of boys door knocking for my wheelie bin service as well as doing windows.
We find that there are three answers when we ask the question, " Do you have a window cleaner".
1. Yes we do. - No worries, give them a leaflet just in case they change their mind
2. No - but we don't want one.
3. No - What do you offer.

Converting the answer number 3 is doable most of the time as we are pretty cheap. Number 1, we cant do much.
It is the number 2 answer that we find we can't convert at all. Does your canvassing method enable you to convert those ones, or is it really the answer number 3 that you look for? I know with the bins if they DIY then we can't convert any of them so it's no point even bothering. Is it the same with those that give an outright no I don't want/need one, even if there windows are filthy?

Any help appreciated as wanting to get better results from my boys on the doors.
Regards, Neil

If you are round building for others 4 weekly is the way to go. If you are round building for just you then 8 weekly at a 50% increase is far better. It will take you longer to be full but when u are you will earn a good deal more. An 8 weekly takes no more time than a 4 weekly.

Hi Mick,

Great tread here , it's the mojo i have been looking for, herself has been chewing my ear lately..
I gotta take my hat of to you , respect !
Just a couple of questions ..1. What are the prime evenings and times to go knocking on doors for the optimum positive results ? 2. What is your intro and pitch ?

Peter

Cheers mate.
5.30/6 till 8 are the best times when most folk are in, i have so many pitches as it depends who i speak to, however 1 that is working a treat at the mo is saying im building my stepdad a round up as he has been made redundant, many people respect me for canvassing there house for him and want to be part of the round.
Maybe worth telling a little white lie to the, peter?.
