time taken to re sand block paving
« on: June 20, 2013, 04:26:35 pm »
Just a quick 'in.

How long does it take you guys to re sand a drive. I did 150m2 today and it took about 2 and a half hours. I usually take half as long to sand as I do clean. I usually go over the drive 3 times with a brush, once to brush in, once to clear and then once with a soft broom to get rid of excess.

Is the time about right, it just seems like it takes a bit too long to sand as what I should be doing it in.

buy a leaf blower, one brush to sand in, then leaf blow over the whole lot to get rid of excess, I hate sanding in  :(

You lazy chaps - I would easily sand in 150m in less than an hour. I have a 3ft wide stiff natural bristle and in nice weather its easy, nowt left on so no waste. My missus would be quicker that you and I would'nt describe her as overly energetic

As Kenny said buy a leaf blower, but for me only to get rid of the small drifts of sand that always seem to appear, if you are sealing then it is a bit of kit worth having.

Re-sandings time about 100-150 square metres per hour for a show room finish.

I hate resanding, couldn't do it without a leaf blower, they finish it off perfectly. Never thought about getting wider broom though, doohhh!

I can't find that 3 foot natural brush online anywhere. Where did you get yours from?
My main brush is a 24 ft Harris Victory Bassine broom, then a soft coco brush for the final fine sweeping.

I just use a soft brush. one sweep in. using a stiffer brush i find flicks the sand everywhere. you can get decent soft brooms from jewsons.

A soft brush leaves sand on the blocks and a bass broom does flick, I use the one in the middle with a good fill of bristles.
