Airflex Storm Pump not priming
« on: June 16, 2013, 10:40:55 am »
Forgive me if I am asking an obvious question but I was at a job yesterday morning & when I tried to prime the pump no water flowed through it despite me giving it plenty of time.  I tried to see if there was an air lock by forcing some water through but got nowhere.  The pump sounds as if it is working however. Has anyone got any suggestions as they would be greatly appreciated.  Many thanks.

Sean.

Hi Sean, first thing I would  do is connect a  solution pipe up to a hand tool & see if anything comes through, the male connectors on the bleed hose do go from time to time.If nothing coming through check the filter is clear at the bottom of tank that draws the solution up. If that's clear connect your bleed pipe & place in the vac port using a towel to make a seal switch on the pump then the vacs run it for a minute or two.Thats what Matt advised me to do when I had the same problem,

connect priming hose, Take mushroom filter off water input hose(in solution tank),  turn pump on and pour water down tube using a jug, should start see water come through priming hose within 30 sec. remember to ensure priming hose is going back into solution tank. once coming through turn pump off. replace mushroom filter and seat hose back into position within solution tank. ensure water level is above filter, turn pump on and re-prime. then away you go.

a posibility is it's the pipe end flush with the surface of the filter and there is fluff blocking the filter.

Always make sure the pipe is pulled away slightly from the surface gause of the filter.

I had a similar problem, take off mushroom and make sure it is clean and clear of fluff BUT when you put it back on make sure it is NOT pushed all the way back down as this was what was causing mine to play up.

Depending on what you use in the tank, it can form a transparent film over the surface of the filter. This is invisible until closely inspected. Boiling water and a scrub may be required.

Thanks so much.  It was the mushroom.  All working perfectly now :)
