urgent help PLEASE....
« on: June 14, 2013, 09:39:51 am »
Good Morning

I had a dog wee on my front room carpet; the wonderful owner of the dog forgot to mention this to me so it was about 2/3 days later that I noticed a strong smell, there is no stain.

I have used all the main brands trying to remove the smell, rug doctor, 1001, febreze but now I have a sort of wee and damp smelling carpet!!!! It stinks!!

Can anyone suggestion anything that works from experience, google is telling me white vinegar and baking soda!

Any help would be great as I’m very close to replacing the whole carpet, the front room is unusable, but its only 9 months old!

Hire a professional to deal with it instead of wasting your time and money hiring a rug doctor... no amount of fabreze or 1001 will help.. nor baking soda, white vinegar or old spice.

Do you think they will be able to remove the smell even if its has gone to the underlay?

No !

the underlay will have to be replaced in that area as well and if necessary the sub floor treated.

they should be able to sort it for you but might be worth mentioning, good luck let us know how you get on  ;)

Gotta be honest. Have never seen a prospective client coming on to a professional forum to ask advice and then actually using that advice.

Have to say well done Pompeyfan, you done the right thing!!!

If only all customers were like this!!

did they explain what they were going to do for there £65?

when cleaning urine my first question is "how big is the dog" . they should also have told you that they may have to lift the carpet to check the underlay for smell, and that they may have to cut out and replace the underlay if stinking. £65 sounds about right for the clean and possibly a quick change of underlay if its an easy lift and change.

I find the fact a Joe Public can just register and then read anything they want a bit odd - hope he gets sorted out with the dog pee etc but on Derek's Tacca site there is a division of trade and public - it should be possible to do something similar on ciu so Joe Pubic can get unbiased (!) professional advice - maybee the mods should only have ability to answer those sort of queries - definitely a need - you only have to look at some of the nonsense on yahoo answers etc to know that
