Cleaning wool twist
« on: June 10, 2013, 10:14:18 pm »
Hi all,

What do you guys use to clean white/cream/beige 80/20
wool twists??
I come up against these alllll the time and I can never get
them looking spot on, I can usually still see the foot shuffle
marks, or the traffic lane no matter how much I clean them.
The problem I find is you cant go at them with the bad ass
chems like the polyprops.
Can you only get these type of carpets so good, and thats it??
Advice much appreciated.

Rich

Don't mistake pile reversal / wear for dirt.

The clue is in the location of the 'problem' area. In front of seating and traffic lanes, especially busy doors will often suffer. You can and in most cases will get improvement by using a CRB but this will be short lived as these areas will continue to be used in the same way.

Just understand this and explain beforehand to avoid unrealistic expectations. If you explain but sort you're a hero, if you don't and don't.......................................

Traffic lanes are always more pronounced on lighter carpet and the effect you see is not dirt as such, but the effect that dirt and wear have upon the colour over a period of time. It is the difference in wear that you can see and once present in a carpet is difficult to remove because it is wear, not dirt.
