good afternoon all
has anyone ever had the same problem with a steampro 2000 machine as I am having.
I had 2 new vacs fitted a few months ago but now when im half way through a job im getting some water leaking from the bottom of the machine.
took the machine apart ..... everything bone dry....
leak was traced to the bottom of the machine where there is a removable black cover held by 6 screws and when opened up there is a foam lining inside which is soaking wet.
does anyone know if this is supposed to happen after a while ( machine is 2 years old ) or do you need to change this foam every now and again ?
any info would be greatly appreciated .....   thanks guys

 Dont know the machine but the foam lining sounds like a silencer chamber into which the motor exhaust vents ...  sounds like you had water go through the motors either because the waste tank overfilled or you hit a foam patch in the carpet you cleaned or you are using a high foam product without defoamer .  Anyway It should just dry out and be fine .

John is right. I do know the machine and it the waste tank has definitely been overfilled.

Get a good quality defoamer and you shouldn't have an  issue.

To dry the vacs out, Open the waste tank lid and run your vacs for 5 minutes.

come to think of it I have been using powder type defoamer on the last couple of jobs so I think I will go back to liquid defoamer instead  ....   cheers   guys

Also check the bypass valve is not leaking,personally think it's a really bad idea to have all the lec connection blocks sitting right under that valve,mine was leaking not so long back and soaking all of the connectors,they now sit on a bit of 1 x 1/2 inch bit of wood,just in case..

Is it dirty water leaking?

If so check and see if the stand pipe is touching the lid under load. If the vacs are strong it could be pulling in the lid pushing the stand pipe down and making the tank leak at the threads. We have had to replace a couple of waste tanks because of this. To check put some grease or similar on top of black elbow in waste tank and switch on vacs and see if you get transfer of grease onto lid.

If its clean water leak ignore everything I just wrote.
