ashbys electric/battery multi spray
« on: June 04, 2013, 04:49:40 pm »
Unfortunately (for me) i bought one of these about 18 months ago and it keeps stopping and starting. It went back (at my expense) under gaurantee and the problem was fixed.I was reprimanded by Ashbys for not flushing through after use!...However the same  problem has started happening again the last few months even with flushing...i changed the pump two months ago and thought i'd sorted it then yesterday it stopped mid job.
i've checked as much as i can ,loose wires etc its so erratic and seems like a power loss or maybe airlock in pump...just wondering before i try and find someone to look at it if anyone else had a similar problem ? if so any advice would be gratefully received.

I have had a mains plug in multi sprayer from Ashbys for 5 years and its still going strong..this one has been dire but at over 400 quid i don't want to bin it.

I have spoken to Ashby's but they wouldn't admit to any regular faults for this unit.

I bought one from another cc and I have to say it was the most pathetic piece of poope I have ever had the misfortune to buy - to give him his due the bloke took it back from me and said that it was working properly when it left him but I never did discover if it was just badly made/designed or a faulty one - recently I came across one on their website and I asked in an email if the lance was metal and what pump/motor it used - got an acknowledgement but no reply to my queries - nice!

These days, it's easier and cheaper to us a WCW backpack, they will make it with spray lance on it.
Or Gardiner pole system do an even better one
From memory those ashbys things are mega dough.

Mr B
If in doubt.....Leave it out !!

Pile of poo decribes it well ! and yes it is mega dough compared to your suggestions...will have try and get it looked at but will put it down as a bad buy i think.

Strange company,,had occasional dealings with them over the years and its a definite them and us situation regarding customers...never ever known them to admit a fault,,,,its always been my fault !  had a few rows over the phone and my wife got an earful when she complained about having to pay to send it back...definitely the last time i go there !

thanks for your replies

I made a post just a couple of months ago about purchasing one of those. A few of the guys steered me towards the WCW battery sprayer.

Got to say thought, had a Gloria steel sprayer for two years of hard use and never a problem! Not even had to change seals. Touch wood..

Hi Matt
i am sorry to hear about your problem with Ashbys, yes they are absolutely idiots, i am surprise they are still in business after all the years treating their customers in this way, They took thousands of me over the years and never admitted their fault. just a rip off company.
