How much would you charge?
« on: May 28, 2013, 08:49:03 pm »
Im talking about domestics jobs.

How much would you charge as a newbie without a top range equipment f.e. for double bedroom?

Im thinking about £30, but I will do a special offer (buy one get one free) just to get some customers and then charge a normal price around £25.

Do you think is too cheap or too much? I live in West Midlands, close to Coventry. I believe the price for carpet cleaning will be more expensive in places like Cornwall or London.

If your goal is to work at this full time why not start out charging as you mean to go on then you will always get the price.you need.

Even as a sideline you will still have overheads. Insurance, fuel, marketing. Work out what this will cost you each month. divide it by the number of hours you can work that month or better still the number of hours when full time then figure out if that's a good figure for the amount of time each job takes you. Remember in the future you will also need a wage as well as money to invest to grow the business.

Don't spend 1300 on a low spec machine like the aqua 30   ...   the Alltec express , according to the website is 1450 for twin three stages including internal 3000w heater , or 1650 including hoses and wand  ...the heater alone would be 400 extra to buy . The Express will fit in any estate car , on its back anyway .

Do the first 10 for free to get a feel for the job telling your customers that it should be £50 a room if you get any tips then they are none declarable to tax if you charge £'s then the taxman gets involved but for gods sake  GET SOME INSURANCE - if it's going to go wrong it goes wrong on your first few jobs.

Shaun

PS the idea of saying that they are £50 a room is that it adds a value and makes it easier to find customers later who will pay £50.

We have just bought the Alltec Express machine as our back up machine (twin vac..in-tank heater plus in- line heater).

A very powerful small machine plus the in- line heater gets very hot at the brass connect as Russ has posted before.

Also great service from Chris and the team...

The express is a lovely little machine, quite possible the smallest twin vac (3 stage) with a decent in line HX on the market... Absolutely perfect for car valeting and stair climbing!

I would see how much you can get and test this on a regular basis as your skills, marketing ability and customer base increase.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

I think £30 its standard price for a double bed. I will travel a bit to get this price (I live by M6 so there is opportunity..)

Set a per sq ft or per sq metre price, not a per room price. Go in higher than you are comfortable with. We now charge VAT, which is an explainable part of a price, but I would suggest about 40p per sq ft if no VAT
