Girlfriends son had a £50 a day chasing habit,thankfully he is on subitex now and has been clean for over 4 months,seems to be working,takes away the cravings and if you do it while on subitex it makes you very ill..

You know what I find most upsetting about all this,I know this is a bit off topic.

Prohibition does not work,it never will work,if the governments took control of all illegal,drugs,be it smack,charlie,weed etc etc,paid the farmers who grow the stuff a fair price,took control from criminals,took the billions and billions of pounds out of their hands.
Regulated it and supplied it to the people who will always self medicate ,through centers, chemists whatever.In it's pure unadulterated form,gave them somewhere to do it that was safe and supervised,stopped them having to go out robbing or whatever.
It would make the world a far better place..

As I have already mentioned, Britain or NATO should have bought the crops from the farmers at a price that would have been better than they could have got elsewhere,

We could have then taken what is need for research (tons of it is grown in this country and around the world officially for research) and destroyed the rest.

The results being; cheap source of research material, drugs not getting on to our streets and more importantly the local farmers and population on our side and not the Talibans.

Instead the Taliban stepped in and protected the fields and guaranteed the farmers an income, where as NATO burned the fields and the crops denying the locals a living and alienating them in the process.

Then your gonna have thousands of addicts going cold turkey,addiction is non discriminatory ,when I worked at one of the countries top heart hospitals,you would be surprised how many of the surgeons there were on some form of drug or another,it affects people from all walks of life..
Here in Morocco is cannabis that they make a living from...

Of course you are not,

But what you will have is control of the a major proportion of the heroin coming into the country. Addicts can enter into a programme to get their official fix thereby cutting out the dealers, if they dont then tough go cold turkey or pay a fortune for it elsewhere.

This way we also have proper data on how many addicts there are and can monitor their treatment, crime will fall hugely, gang war on our streets will fall, shop lifting will fall, house breaking will fall, car crime will fall, prostitution will fall, people trafficking will fall.

Not to mention (but I will) the benefits to health, lives saved both here and our soldiers in Afghanistan, prisons not overflowing with addicts etc etc etc.

These are just some of the benefits, that all starts by paying a farmer in Afghanistan for his crop.Any grown up country with joined up thinking should be able to see this but for some reason our government cant.

What we should have done rather than burn the poppy fields was buy the local's crops at a higher rate than they get from the Taliban or drug barons - then destroy it. Global heroine prices will go sky high solving a major problem across the world and the afghan's still have a living.
That's a much cheaper option than dealing with the human misery, crime associated with addition and the billions we currently spend on treating addicts.

I think that it has been proven that pure,unadulterated heroin actually is not that harmful to your health,it's what it's been cut with the does the damage.sharing needles etc.
Wouldn't be using it in hospitals etc if it was.
I think it's down to getting a pure unadulterated supply,without harming others and the crime users commit,to supply themselves.
I don't condone it,I personally think it's filthy stuff,I have only come across 2 people,that used it,both of them dead now,1 od'ed and one hung himself
