Barry half the "English" are of Scottish or Irish decent. On Tyneside its a third Scottish, Third Irish and the rest Vikings and Romans. There was a mass influx of immigrants in the late 1800's and early 1900's who came to work in the new industries, arnaments, shipbuilding etc. Liverpool is virtually all Irish decent as the place didn't exist 200 years ago. The population in 1800 was only 70,000 in 1851 it had swollen to 750,000 with many Irish immigrants escaping the potatoe famine.
All you jocks with anti English sentiments just have a think. We aren't all the bowler hat brigade.
