Shurflo as a Booster Pump
«

Following on from a previous post of mine, does anyone use a Shurflo 100 psi pump, with a transformer, to boost an Ro system (300 gpd)?
Or do any of you "technical" guys on here have any views on whether it would work ok?
I've got a couple of pumps knocking about and, for the price of a correctly rated transformer, it could be worth a go..
Cheers

I did just so. Had an old Shurflo pump lying around and used it when my proper mains impeller pump died. Worked ok for a week or two and then burnt out probably due to us running out of water on the ranch ! Bought a good quality impeller pump on ebay for £25 and used it ever since.

Could you let me know the make and model of the impeller pump you bought?

I used an old diaphragm pump off the van. The pressure switch was playing up cutting the flow so replaced it. Meaning it was lying around the house.
Fitted it inline off the hose pipe into the filters with a flow controller (PWM controller) brought off amerzon to slow the pump down. Otherwise it overheats and cuts out in minutes. Used a transformer I had lying around 2.
Ended up fitting a pressure switch after the filters before the ballcock in my storage tank which cuts the pump when full. (Couple of quid eBay)
I run the filters at about 70or 80 psi. Had 40 psi before.
