Just be put on a water meter
« on: May 16, 2013, 07:28:54 pm »
Hi all. I have just been put on a water meter and I am wondering how much you guys pay on your bill. I purify about a 1000 litres a day max through a merlin. Does anyone know a more water efficient way of purifying that amount of water or a better system.

I make about 1500 ish litres a week thru a 4040 and paying £150 a month inc house bill so yours will be a lot higher I think esp as so I understand a merlin wastes more than a 4040.

Im just looking into rainwater harvesting at the moment.

If you have a word with the water board and tell them that you are using it for business they will tell you to fit a sub meter and you won't get charged for the water that goes to sewer (waste)

I phoned them and they sent me a form with a load of questions to fill in, sent it back and now waiting to hear back from them.
Its the way they work it out, they charge you a fixed % for return to drain.

I called Southern Water over a week ago for the form, did yours take long to arrive?

i run two poles using roughly 8 to 900 litres product water a day. my 4040 kicks out 70% waste too and i pay roughly £100 a quarter. its not that bad when you consider what the water earns you

im on a water meter too, and it works out for me just under £10 per 1000lt pure i make. to make that i use 3000lts,

so if yours is the same £10 a day for maybe £200 or maybe more a day work isnt bad really.

Anyone know what ro wastes the least amount of water. Is there any way of redirecting the waste fro one to into another as I have a spare merlin?
