Car showroom
« on: May 09, 2013, 08:20:30 pm »
Hi guys,

I've been to have a look at a car showroom.

They currently have 6 hours per day, Monday-Friday and 4 hours on a bank holiday.
They have all the paper towels, toilet rolls, soaps and bin liners supplied in their current price.

They are paying 18,500 plus vat per year at the moment but they have been quoted 14,800 plus vat by someone else.

I'm not experienced in quoting jobs of this scale but I think the new quote is really low.

Any thoughts on this??

thanks in advance

Ange  ;D

I've only done a very quick work out and i'm by no means an expert in those size contracts but it seems very low.

Current quote sounds about right, £ 14500 doesn't even pay wages if they are doing it properly.

I think they need to check its a like for like quote!!

I think the current quote is to low if their supplying paper towels, soaps and low rolls, perhaps that's why their looking for new quotes! The contractor realises he's priced it to low, so the standards are dropping and their skimping on time, but all the clients seems to see is cost, not what the job entails, well it's only a bit of cleaning isn't it!  ::)roll

Doesn't make any sense!  They are bothered about Bank Holidays but not weekends their busiest time???

thanks for the replies guiys and yes I thought the weekend thing was strange as well but I asked them about it and they said that they just wanted mon-fri.

The main reason they are changing is the management of the cleaning contract is not up to scratch.  They products they are using are getting cheaper and cheaper and they don't supply them very often so the cleaners are running out.  Also they keep running out of paper towels and then trying to charge for them on top, so yes I agree I think it the current one is too cheap.

I also think it's strange to incorporate everything into the price initially as how do the cleaning co. know how much they are going to use??  I currently charge for the cleaning monthly and add on any sundries that I drop off as and when then they need them.

I would be a minimum of 19750 + vat plus all supplies on top, might chuck bin liners into price, but deffinately not Hand towels or t/rolls, mechanics are always wiping.

To be fair we do a couple of car showrooms, and cleans after a saturday or a bank holiday are very easy generally, usually just a few sales guys in, no office staff and only an odd mechanic in, so mechanics toilets canteen areas are still clean, and offices unused on the bank hol days.

14500 is less than £ 9/hr after consumables surely business suicide,
like Billy says, standards will drop, cleaning staff will leave early doing a poor job

I thought the showroom were providing the consumables, my price would be around £20k plus consumables charged as extras.
We used to do showrooms on a 7 day basis, but as Andrew says weekends are a lot easier, but we used those days to catch up on any outstanding.
