Had mine go in a customers house yesterday, luckily the window was open so quickly poked it out. Still got 'Black Death' over the carpet

It went just next to the QC, went to the hydraulic engineers got 2ft cut off and refitted the QC.

has anyone had a burst not next to the QC? It seems to me is the constant bending of the line that weakens it.

This hose was 4 yrs old,  should have really changed it sooner, I hear of guys who change them every year

On a side note..... got 30m of single wire 3500psi/ 250degrees solution line for £114 inc the vat... not a bad price

How did you get black death? That suggests the water in the line was dirty? Best place for a burst line is into the suction line.

Happened to me last week, the black death is carbon from the breakdown of the rubber, had some over the wall, managed to get it off but a bit  embarrassing although my customer didn't seem worried in the slightest.

I was only thinking the week before that it was about time I bought some more hose, usually do every 18 months.

Yeah I've had it go there. Ever since that I make a point of lying the wand on it's side whenever I put it down, instead of resting on the solution line.

The black death has nothing to do with dirt in the water!

I have had it once and it happend when i was not looking when i answered a phone call. 
To make it worse, it was a mega,mega expensive patterned wool carpet and a well to do customer.
Luckily the customer was in the garden at the time, so i covered the carpet with sheets before she came in and i frantically tried to sort it out every time she disappeared.

Thankfully i just about got away with it, but a 2 hrs job took 10hrs 

I always keep a empty bucket within running distance now.

Hppened to me last week to ended up with water over the customers wall paper took it to Pirtek they charged me £18.96 incl vat took less than 5 minutes to fix thought that was a bit steep.

If you get a mid-line burst take the vac hose off the wand and place it over the leak and then double the burst line and shove it into the vac line then you can go to the machine and turn off the pump without causing any more damage.

took my solution hose to pirtek 2 months ago to have the end chopped off and a new fitting crimped on and they wouldn't do it ......something to do with new laws on hydraulic hoses..took it to another pirtek dealer and got the same reply so had to buy a complete new hose for £ 110....

Sticking it down the vac hose is the best option but I use a 90degree fitting to piont the solution line downwards, this creates a big bend in the line so you can't poke the line past the burst section into the hose.

I bought the hose from the local hydraulic depot. It is pressure washer hose but quite thin 8mm(?) I buy this all the  times it's the best I've found.

That is a new law, stupid as well. Pirtek is ridiculously expensive, at least 3/4 times dearer than your local hydraulics company.

Not as cheap as Mike's find but looks good, Nick also sells some similar.

BTW there must be something the air as my solution line went last week and I got black death luckily I quickly shoved it in the vac line burning my fingers at the same time and got away with it apart from a quick wipe round the skirtings.

I,m sure he quoted with connectors .

I have always had my lines fitted with original conectors there |Mike, when i,vehad a problem , very reasonable , i think some where around £ 6,00 last time .

Geoff when you say 'connectors' are you talking about the QCs or just the threaded taiil ends to fit screw the QCs onto?

The hose is: hypress jet dn6 1/4inch
