...the internal workings of a boiler(hotbox)?
Ive got a major leak from the inlet to my boiler underneath. ive just bypassed the boiler at the moment but i cant see where the leak is coming from. Its causing the machine to surge. strange that the leak is at the inlet of the boiler. its not a dodgey hose, but seems to be coming from the actual boiler itself. could it be a burst/split coil? The boiler wasnt being used at the time but obviously had pressure running through it. there was also what looked like a bit of steam/smoke drifting out of the boiler chimney but the boiler/casing/chimney wasnt even warm.
Is there much to these things inside? I dont really use the boiler on the trailer as ive got one on the van mount but it would be handy to get it sorted.
cheers,
Matt.

The boiler is merely just a coil of tube with a flow switch on the inlet and the thermostat on the outlet. The flames just flow over the outside of the coils which warms the water inside the coils. You have a split in the coil which is spraying a fine mist that looks like steam. You will need a new coil or get yours welded. remove the top plate and you may see where the leak is. Its better the remove the boiler from the pressure flow when your not using heat - I will be fitting my boiler onto my washer at the weekend but it will only be hosed up when I need heat.

Thanks mate. ill take a look at it next week.
my boiler is plumbed inline all the time. thats just the way its set up. its part of the unit as it was built. if i wanted to set it up the way you suggested id need to un screw the hoses all the time. i guess i could use quick releases.

Matt, I have spent the weekend working on my new trailer, washer, boiler, hose reels and all the rest of the gubbins I've bolted on - my mate thinks Wallace and grommit designed it ! Anyway I have thought about several ways to plumb the washer to the reel but also a simple way to be able to bring the boiler in without it being inline continiously. I have come up with a simple solution which if I can find rated componants would only be one valve

I have Karcher srew fittings on mine so i just screw on and off when I need it. It's not even been out the container for over 6 months, any jobs I need heat on i just throw my Karcher hds in the van, seems to be much easier

The trailer was my first jetter that I have stripped the petrol Kohler and tanks off, the washer is the one I got from Wrightway - Lombardini ldw702 with ws202, the reels are off the jetter or a spare jetter I bought, the boiler again from Wrightway is a lavor 21 ltr. It is all plumbed rtt with an L valve to dump the flow to change tool or start, the boiler will be plumbed in / out again with an L valve and nrv. It has a 650 ltr tank and a battery from a sierra cosworth ! I just need to take the after photos and take advice to post them
