GrippaMax boys were in town today.
« on: April 29, 2013, 06:14:14 pm »
I had the GrippaMax boys in town today.

They drove round from Peterborough and Cambridge to fit my 650 litre van-mount system. They were here for 9.15 in the morning, which was pretty good I thought considering their journey had taken in the m25 during Monday morning rush-hour; especially as they'd reckoned they'd be here for 9 .00 a.m.

So a good start.

After all the preliminaries, checking the van body-work, signatures, coffee etc they got to work.  There were three of them. Oliver, the boss; Ross the boss and Dave the auto-electrician  ;) Obviously they had worked together before as a team as all knew just about what all the others were doing and everything seemed to go pretty smoothly.

It took about an hour before Dave had pulled apart the front cab in the new Transit Custom, dispatched the drivers seat and revealed the batteries underneath for him to start to get his wiring for the split charge relay into gear. Meanwhile, Ross and Oliver had pretty much got the main tank fitted and fixed into place.

They then moved on to plumbing the two-man system in. The kit is a two-man setup, so twin RedAshe Reels, with 100 metres of 6mm micro-bore, twin pumps, with inline D.I. meter. The two reels are fitted to the floor of the van with an option to allow for two external reels to be fitted used with a set of external ports to the rear of the van.

All seemed to go very smoothly. I was impressed with their readiness to explain the system, any particular intricacies which weren't particularly obvious such as the split charge relay and internal plumbing.

So all in all a good job in my opinion. Very pleased actually. Took the system out for a little spin after the guys left and was very pleased with it all. Its very different to the old system I had fitted which was a 350 litre van-mount by PureFreedom.

Good job.

Before they'd started.

Getting going.

Dave the Sparky.

Ross starting the van-mount.

Oliver, Dave, Ross.

Who ate all the pies.

Halfway there.

All done.

Just coincidence. I didn't know they had a custom until they turned up. I think they might have got one as they'd heard I had invested!  ;)

I got a nice unit for a good price actually; but I'd rather not say the exact money I paid on here. Oliver was very agreeable on his price. He'd made a mistake with the quote but honoured the price he offered. Ordinarily it would have been somewhere just over the 3K mark.

Really like the like of your van and system Matt.
So can you give us a breakdown of what exactly you get for 3 grand + (equipment and fitting).  :)

I do rinse on Lee. Mostly anyway. Downstairs I might lift off, but upstairs is usually on.

That system is:

650 litre tank, 2 WFP pumps, twin controllers, twin RedAshe reels with 100 metres of 6 mm micro-bore on each, 110 battery, inline TDS meter, engineers coming to my home and fitting.

Id had other quotes. I spoke to PureFreedom, Ionics and Aquafactors.

Grippa ticked more boxes than the others. Money wasnt the deciding factor, Ionics would have got the job if they didnt have a 6 week lead time. Purefreedom would have got it if they supplied more professional looking systems.

Grippa got it despite some compromising comments on here because I believed my gut feeling and whenever I spoke to Oliver he was genuine. He honoured a mistake he made and we spoke in detail about various elements that concerned me.

I also believe Alex gardiner is a trust worthy chap and he spoke well of Oliver and Grippa. I felt I could trust his word so popped for Grippa. As things are at the moment I think I made the right decision.

Matt, please give us an update of how the system is working and if you're happy with it. Much appreciated.
