New van suggestions.
« on: April 25, 2013, 06:10:30 pm »
Van broke down this morning, fed up with keeping it on the road by 'patching' it up.
Anyone got the new Ford custom yet?
Also anyone got a new traffic?
Opinions please

I've got a Trafic.
Love it!
Problem free so far.

There's 3 of us with them all on 61 plates from memory.
I'm on my 2nd.

Go for it!

Oh yeah! +1 AWC.
I'd love one but can't afford it for a few years yet.

I've got a 6 month old Primastar, same as trafic just rebadged.  Very pleased with it, at first I thought it would be too big, but now when I drive next to other vans I'm glad I have the extra space inside.  It feels very refined compared to a Transit, like driving a car.

Two of a kind today then! Trafic 61 plate 23k decided it didn't like the gearbox today! F ing thing I've only had it since Aug and done 7k. Anyway got it to dealers and new one going in next week. I said to the service manage that I thought the post 07 plates had sorted their gearbox's and he said no we still get a few...

I think you will find the Vivaro is a renault with a vauxhall badge, have a look inside behind radio, full of Renault stickers

Nearly-they're all made by Nissan, mainly in Barcalona.
Pull up the plastic floor bit in the passenger footwell, Nissan battery along with ancillaries.
And if you take that stupid bit if plastic off in the engine bay, all the hoses have Nissan branding.

It was one of the main reasons I went for one. Twice.

My van is on contract and goes back in a few months so popped in a couple of local garages, I had a look the new transit custom...It had a car like interior, definitely one to consider

Also went next door to Mercedes and test drove the 160 & 225 bhp Vito, I was a little disappointed with the performance of the 160 bhp vito as it didn't seem much quicker than my 115 Trafic, The 225bhp on the other hand was very quick but not as nimble, The downside to the 225bhp compact is the max payload of only 1070 kg's

I need to test the new 155 bhp transit sport before i make my mind up....decisions !

Bit of a stupid question here .... I take it you can sign write your van etc if its on lease ?? ... what happens when you hand it back and how dies the mileage and excess mileage work charges etc..

excess mileage charges depend on what company you go with, I will get charged 5p per mile when it goes back which is one of the lower rates

Sign writing isn't a problem, just take it off before it goes back

my 290 swb transit custom is 0.8p per mile above excess.
i got a plan with 15k miles per annum, fully maintained inc tax ,tyres etc etc      £309.00 per month.
sign writing just needs to be removed before van goes back.

my needs are for a solid reliable van. with some comfort level as im in it some days 10hrs +

they go straight thru the auction after too. might find out where when it goes back.
