Hi

If you are able you really need to view the job in person as builders cleans can vary so much as some builders are messy whilst others will tidy up a bit. This will help you decide on the price for the job as well as the amount of staff you need to complete the job.
Also you need to clarify with the foreman or whoevers in charge that if they go back into the room after its been cleaned and do any work in it then an additional charge will be added. So many times we have cleaned rooms then someone decides to drill a hole in the wall making more mess!!

It's been a long time since I did builders cleans (thankfully) but I'd be wary if I was asked to quote on this basis. Builders cleans are generally three stage (build clean, re-clean and sparkle) and the last of these is usually a light clean on an area which has already had a re-clean and which only needs light dusting and sweeping. It's also usually the cheapest which is why you may be getting asked to quote for this clean. I'd want to know who had done the original clean and why they weren't being asked to complete the job - are they too expensive or haven't they been paid for the original works? Either way, it wouldn't be good news from my perspective.

Also, when I did builders cleans, I had to be CIS registered - no construction registration means no payment. That may have changed  of course but it's worth checking out.

Finally, I wouldn't assume that you'll have ready access to water or 240v electricity. Apologies if this is all stuff you know already but it's not straightforward and more than a few companies have incurred severe loss through taking jobs like this on.

Following on from the others, you have to look at the job and find out exactly what they want, some builders expect all paint marks removed for instance, which takes time.
These are all factors on how long the job will take.
I always work out how many hours the job will take then work out how many staff to do it in the time allocated. Also add in a contingency amount because almost every time they always ask you to do extras while your there.
Ask if there is water and power available and if it's 240volts.

I had a phone call this morning asking me to quote over the phone for 550 m2 in an office that needed to be done this week because they are moving in at the weekend.
I insisted I went to look, good job I did because she failed to mention there were builders on site and the floors weren't protected.
Of course the quote is now a lot higher because of all the plaster etc in the carpets.

Hi guys

Right I have been to look at the job and it is one space 650sq meters there is 108 windows each about 6ftx4ft plus frames . ladies w/c and gents w/c with three sinks and  toilets . the floor is a newly sanded wooden floor hence all the dust. i recon 8 staff for a days work. is this a realistic amount of time i am allowing. i.e 64hrs

any advice would be welcomed.

How bad are the windows, do they have paint on them?
These take longer than anything else.

Timings should be about right then. Good luck.
