don't live there now but did for 10 months as a young man, bitter, bitter cold with the wind whipping through the streets, even worse in the winter.

on the plus side you do (or did) get a pass to visit the museums for free as a resident, good if you like museums

Different visiting the place to living there.

There was a lot of people living there who worked in London, catching the train every day.

The price of property was much higher in York than the surrounding areas because of this - ie Darlington was just too far for the daily commute so property prices were much cheaper. I wonder if this still applies.

I worked in York for 3 years - I wouldn't live there. The wife loves the place though.

Its too flat to live there but a nice place to visit.
If you live outside Yorkshire its still better than wherever you are ;D

I'm from York  :D .

It's not too bad lol nice people, crap weather (like everywhere else in England I suppose).

Plenty to see, plenty of competition, always good to see and meet new windys.

All the best if you decide to make the move.
