New Fibredyne pre filters
« on: April 18, 2013, 06:13:57 pm »
Has anyone got the new Fibredyne pre filter, Can they be fitted to a standard pre filter housing?

they have just been listed on the gardiners website under new products and it says they can be used with standard pre filter housing,

One thing it doesnt say on gardiners site is that having less filters to go through increases the pressure to your 4040 ro making it more efficient

Ive Just ordered one   ;)

Duly noted and added - this is a very good point and another reason why these filters will probably replace the use of standard filters completely within the window cleaning  industry. Wish I had invented them  :) I will also be putting a PDF download on the site with the technical stuff and microscopic photos of the structure - they really are very clever.

Do you still have to change them at the regular 3 monthly intervals as you do with the ordinary sediment/carbon filters?

They would generally last about 3 times longer than a standard triple pack of budget pre-filters. So if you use about 400 litres of water per day on a 4 day week on a 50/50 reject RO Ratio you would need to change this single pre-filter every 24 weeks which is nearly 6 months. In the same time you would have needed to change your average triple pack of budget filters (20,000 litre life) 4 times.

These filters really will save money in use and also will save on carriage charges as only one filter needs sending out once instead of 3 filter sending out 3 times.

To use in a standard 3 canister pre-filter RO unit simply take out all 3 pre-filters on the next change and screw back up two of the canisters empty and fit this single filter in the 3rd canister - then change after 75,000 litres. During this time you will also benefit from higher flow rates and less clogging which could save you further money on resin use as the RO could  be performing at a better efficiency.

Clever chaps these people from Pentair.

You would remove both of your old filters and then re-fit one of the canisters empty and the other with one of these filters - if it is the 20" versions you would get about 152,000 litres of life from it. Based on the previous figures that would be nearly a year between changes. Of course this would depend on your actual usage and RO waste ratio.

Hi Ben

There is no need to put a sediment filter first as these new Fibredyne filters are a combined sediment and carbon filter in one - hence the improved savings and water flow efficiency.

Just leave your first canister empty (or remove) and fit this single filter as your only pre-filter before the RO.

All of the prices always have (Excluding VAT charge at 20%). If you order over £45 in goods (not inc. VAT) then the postage is free in mainland UK.

If you add something else to the order (+£7.01 or more) we can knock off the delivery charge for you on this order. Just let me know if you would like to do this and I will get the office to ring you on Monday and arrange.

Just a point the Fibredyne filters on our website are the higher capacity Fibredyne-CFBC versions which have about 60% more filtering capacity than the lower specification CFB-Plus ones that you have linked to on the Gaps website.

So i can just buy one of these filters instead of the 3 normal pre filters?
That sounds great.
Also alex has the pole hose come out yet that you mentioned?
Thanks
