How would you tackle this & how much?
« on: February 22, 2006, 06:29:44 pm »
I have been asked to quote for the outside and inside of a large window in a hall. Approx 25-30 feet high at a guess and about 12-14 feet across.

1) How much?
2) How would you do the inside?

If I have a wfp to do the outside I can't see a problem, but I could do with suggestions for how to tackle the inside.

***The hall has a lovely floor and I don't want to create a mess.***

It looks like you would have to use a ladder for the inside and do it trad  :-\

I would charge between £80 - £100 I think...

If it's monthly I'd go for £30 to £40.

It all seems really straight forwards and quick.

For the floor inside, put down a large dust sheet.

Use an old dust sheet on the floor if you can't catch the suds on the mop as you go. Or leather and scrim the tops and blade the bottoms. You'll need a ladder mat or someone to foot you too. I'd charge about £25 tops, gear off and back on the van in about 15 minutes!

The outside is only about 5 minutes work with WFP, but I would still charge about £10 for the outside.
The inside looks a little high to be able to do a good job using pole+ washer & squeegee.
So ideally you will need to use a ladder on the inside.

Make sure your ladder is on an anti-slip mat though.

Make sure your applicator isn't very wet and you should do no more than get a drip or 2 on the floor.

For the inside I would want about £20.

Total time for inside and out, even allowing for being very careful with a ladder on the inside should only be about 30 minutes...tops. And probably a lot quicker on repeat cleans too.
Probably about the 15 minutes or so that KJC mentioned!

A nice job if you can get it, best of luck!

£35 though i'd be trad the lot. Otherwise like some of the others have said, around £30 mark with a dust sheet on the inside using ladder and almost dry applicator

To climb mount fuji you must first find a path

This would take about 15 mins to complete in and out with two guy's.

As for being to cheap SCS , well we are down south too and I would love to see a job pay £100 for 15 mins work. Dont get me wrong we have a very profitable hourly rate but I couldn't get £320 - £400 an hour. Perhaps if this was swallowed up in a bigger job, maybe we could get away with that but not as a stand alone price. Congrat's to you for getting that sort of work. RESPECT!!

You will only get what they are prepared to pay and not a penny more.

I would say about £25.00-£30.00

Any more than that and they will look elsewhere and some one will do it for that.

It would take me less than 30 mins

About £35 the lot, inside and out.
You' ll need a ladder stopper inside (Rojack), but if I was you, I'd get someone to foot you inside.  After all you are a short light female. (your own admission)
