Leaks!
« on: April 13, 2013, 01:53:19 pm »
I have a new pump. The outlet connection is a plastic swivel /joint /elbow and it leaks. What do other people use to stop leaks? Is it just a poor fitting?

I have done. It's ok until it dead ends and it's coming out of the swivel bit.

Do you mean the nut bit that you screw onto the end of the pump? this has a seal inside that could have dislodged or something wrong with it

Could try using epoxy resin - clamp glue - cover fitting in it and screw it in.

If you cant get to the root of the the leak and dont want to glue it use self amalgamating  repair tape  you can get it from www.toolstation.com

It is soft rubber tape which is stretchy wrap it around tight and it bonds together to form durable seal .

I have used it to repair leaks in hoses when out at work in the past great thing to have in your tool kit in your van . Mike

I have found this happens sometimes, even with ptfe, get a pair of adjustables on it, that  sorts it.

you just need to position the elbow so it sits straight.

Yep. That's what I did but was too embarrassed to admit it.  ;D
