There isn't a common average Mark. There is a whole breadth of people and companies in this industry. Even my local customers vary so much. I would say there are far more at the lower end of the market all fighting for the same unloyal customers. You then have the mid priced guys who are always steady and make good money. Then you have the upper tier and some of the franchises. I also have companies who have 2 or 3 guys out working on commercial (encapping) every night of the week.

Employees on resonable wages so they seem happy enough. There are harder jobs out there :)

Did it for over 15 years. Get up at 12pm.
Start work at 17:30. Onsite for 7pm shove a cimex/swing a rotary around with my ipod on til 3am.
Come the weekend you are still in night mode and can party like a rockstar as its like going out at 8 in the morning til tea time.
I renovated 2 houses in the afternoons with the money I earned.
