Russ 'UV' Chadd
« on: April 09, 2013, 12:14:41 pm »
Thanks to Russ Chadd for yet more work ....... already had 3 small rugs added to hallway carpet clean last week, due to cat urine that went further than predicted ..... now booked a carpet clean after a dog went for a wee but have added two 2 seat sofas into it. This UV torch that I got last week, has already generated more than it's value, simply by proving the urine had got onto items that never showed it up.  ;D

I have to say this tool is brilliant, had mine a short while and already has come in extremely useful already. I've had 2 urine associated jobs this week and it has allowed me to precisely detect the source and deal with it quickly.

Highly recommend it tbh. The client's are also impressed that their issue has been resolved in such a professional, swift way. Be lost without it now!

IMO we should all be carrying these tbh - it is our job afterall.

Well done Russ.

i have one of these high power LED torches already, it looks like you can get the UV led bulbs for them for about a tenner - i paid about 30.00 for the torch - you could easily get the torch & separate bulb for half the cost of that UV set up

search for Ultrafire or Surefire for the torches and then UV bulb for the separate bulb, then you have an ultra bright torch and the UV option as well. The torches are great for mountain bikes and alike in the dark, they give out massive white light

Anyone can buy a standard high powered torch for £30.00... however this kit uses the best individual components available including the UV module and high powered lithium batteries... its still cheaper than the Larry Cobb torch and mine comes with higher capacity batteries!

Have not had one for a long time but we used to use them for blood contamination on a certain contract we used to have.

Some interesting stuff here :

Here is Larry's torch set : http://www.cobbcarpet.com/uvstain.html

So when using oxidisers the UV light actually accelerates the reaction...

Some interesting comments on TMF... http://www.truckmountforums.com/threads/uv-lights-vs-steam-iron-for-stain-removal.35546/

And this explains what Oxidisers do....

lol - you werent reading right. You can get the Ultrafire torches (which is what i have and you have) for around the 30 quid mark - thats a high power new age LED torch with lithium batteries - they are imported from China, they have been available for years coming in high lumens & different names like Surefire, Ultrafire, Cree etc. I have used mine for mountain biking for 3 years. This guy has just inserted the UV LED bulbs and rebranded them as a carpet cleaning specific tool. Thats what people do, then make a good mark up & we buy as we think they are made for purpose just for us. Fair play to him, its a great idea and works, these torches give out more light than a car headlamp and its pure white light with the standard LED.

If you want to pay over 100 quid for one and tell yourself you have something different then go for it!!

New look, I am not interested in this for the UV but for my mountain bike with the LED.

I have looked up the brand you mention and they are like anywhere from £60 to £200

Which model is a good one for £30?  Sounds like a great torch for mountain my bike.
