Horrible leak and i dont mean a slighgt drip, its effecting presure someone told me to replace with plastic its a shame cos i like the brass connection it seems solid,but when i press the connection in to the hose reel lock the leak stops. has anyone got any advice how to fix this its only like 2 months old it worked very well for the first month, now its really bad

hi i thought of that but normally these rubbers last like 6 months why would it go so fast on the brass?
is it most likey that?
anyway where is the best place to buy these?

go and buy some cheap nasty plastic hozelock fittings and take out the seals . Mike

It happens with mine all the time, it's the brass sleeve that the seal fits into.

The thing with brass is it's a very soft metal(maliable sp?), with the pressure building up from your pump and the movement of the reel it wears the sleeve/notch flat.

Replace and start again, I reckon I go through 1 every 4-5 months.

Pure water will kill these rubber seals.Resulting in a failure. I saw on e bay some silicon ones which will work better.

I think it was these seals i used made for a hot pressure water. Take a look on e bay.

If that is the case for it failing , would putting vaseline on the connection and rubber seal protect it ?
Also spotted this rectus hose reel swivel elbow on ebay, pricey but maybe more robust than a hoselock

personally I just use one of the higher end hoselock branded metal connections (not the brass one) on a conventional swivel and have no problems (so far)

I used to use brass - but I'd be replacing every three to four months.

It's a ridiculous price for lumps of metal, but mine have lasted a year or so now with zero problems.

The brass fittings connecting to a reel leak terribly until pressure builds up and seals them. Replace with plastic. Why companies sell them as part of a setup I don't know.

Yep plastic are best, with a brass elbow connection coming off the reel.
